The Community of Nethervale is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by Jason the First with a fair hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls, unlimited-speed roads, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful population of 1.568 billion Nethervaleans love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Downtown. The average income tax rate is 88.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Nethervalean economy, worth 175 trillion stags a year, is highly specialized and led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Basket Weaving, and Book Publishing. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nethervale's national animal is the stag, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is none.

Nethervale is ranked 9,831^st in the world and 244^th in the South Pacific for Most Developed, scoring 90.66 on the Human Development Index.
