Welcome to the region! :)

I do hate the way Max Barry is loudly and militantly atheist (or at least, the folks who write issues now are loudly and militantly atheist), and that there's basically no nuance to religious issues. I'm Jewish, and do believe in a deity, but that doesn't mean I do not simultaneously believe in evolution and other scientific principles, or that I am generally unintelligent. I believe that science should be taught in all schools to all children and that religious education should either take place at home or in a specific religious institution (whether that be something like a Hebrew school or Sunday school, where science should still be a mandatory educational topic, or at temple). Yet if I say, "Yes, science is real and people should learn it, but also religion shouldn't be banned," my country's Intelligence goes down. I just find this frustrating.

Iím an atheist and I agree with you. I mean, I donít care about what anybody believes as long as itís not human sacrifice and they donít attack me for my beliefs. But the game forces me to make choices on two extremes. ďWant separation of church and state? Your only option is to totally ban religion, sorry.Ē And thatís not at all what I want. I want my nation to be a society where what you believe doesnít matter, rather who you are as a person and your meritocratic ability. These issues definitely need more nuance.

The USSR was state capitalist. State capitalism is where the state controls the economy.

Socialism on the other hand is where the workers themselves own the means of production.

What do you think of the way the Hasidic community has developed in NYC, specifically in Brooklyn, if you know?

I guess the follow up question would be: to what extent would you want religious education taught within a secular school system and secular society? What role would you expect for religion in those venues?
