The Queendom of Aelith is a colossal, efficient nation, ruled by Aether with an iron fist, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls, keen interest in outer space, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, cynical population of 4.086 billion Aelithians are ruled with an iron fist by the socialist government, which grants its people the freedom to do whatever they like so long as it doesn't involve getting richer than anybody else or challenging the government.

The large, liberal, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Capital City. The average income tax rate is 90.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Aelithian economy, worth 624 trillion aelithian dollars a year, is quite specialized and dominated by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Trout Farming, and Beef-Based Agriculture. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 152,745 aelithian dollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The government is avowedly secular, the latest drugs are only legally available to private patients, elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume, and advertisements read like science journal articles complete with extensive references. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aelith's national animal is the Elizabee, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Aetherium.
