The key word is unnecessarily. Occasionally bolding or underlining a word for emphasis is fine. Making an entire post in bold or using it for no reason has always been discouraged. Problem is, once one person does it, then everyone starts doing it, and it's spammy, and spam is what we're trying to keep in check.
Former 10000 Islands Minister for Labour HumanSanity has recently won the delegate election in the region, to replace Kuriko, who has come to the end of their term. They beat Hakketomat, a former Senator for Blue Canaria North.
Minor News
New Visayan Islands has joined the NS moderation team, as Jakker couldn't handle being the only forum moderator.
HumanSanity ran a campaign with detailed plans that extended beyond the WA to include plans for events within 10KI and interregional events, and delegating positions of Foreign Affairs Secretary and Secretary of State. Hakketomat ran a much simpler campaign, promising to delegate their powers to other nations to do the work for them. HumanSanity was running under the Mayor Shelter Political Party, while Hakketomat was running under the The Islands Party. HumanSanity won with 40 votes to Hakketomat's 19.
Two of 10KI's Senate seats were also up for election, Wischland running unopposed for the seat of Blue Carania North, and Controlitia winning the seat of New Republica South. Both the delegate and the senators are part of the region's legislative body, the Council of Nine, as well as several appointed positions, and the Chief Executive, who is the owner of the regional founder account (alongside several other roles). Delegates serve 6-month terms, but there is a term limit of two terms (one year), which previous delegate Kuriko reached. Kuriko is the current Secretary-General of the WA, which they won during this year's April fools event, the general election.

Thalassia Passes New Constitution
Thalassia, a region that had recently been placed into an interim council, has just passed a new constitution in a vote on the region's newly-established forum. The new constitution makes major changes to the region's government, notably an appointed executive & judicial authority known as the Curia Regis, and a legislative regional assembly. Other major changes include an Out-of-Character Administration, some voting taking place on regional forums and a new citizenship application system instead of WA citizenship
Thalassia has slowly been moving away from having two elected executive positions and a regional cabinet, which is what the region started with. Firstly, the office of President was abolished and replaced with WA Delegate, followed by changing the region from a republic to a constitutional monarchy. It was the region's founder (or monarch, as their known in the region) Sho, and several government members, who dissolved the constitution and government, and replaced it with an interim council and constitution, so that the new constitution could be written.

When looking at the constitution, we see a large shift in the structure of the regional government. Now a large part of the government is focused on the Monarch and the Curia Regis, which is the executive and judicial authority appointed by the Monarch. While there is a focus on the newly-created legislature, most other elements are relatively undemocratic. Whether a legislature is a better system than referendums (Thalassia's previous system for passing laws and amending the constitution) or simply the executive creating laws is a debate for another time. While it can be easy to focus on the negatives, it is important to remember that monarchies are not unheard of on NS (regions such as The Pacific or the previously-mentioned 10KI, to an extent). Whether or not it is the right direction for the region will be known in time.

N-Day 5: The Winners, The Obliterated and What Happened Along the Way
N-Day. Probably the closest NS ever gets to an actual built-in war game (raiding is technically just high-speed political coups). This year we saw alliances of interregional factions, mass puppet use and factions making comebacks and falling down the order. There was definitely a lot to take in, so we're just going to focus on the major factions and what happened with them.
Last year's winners, Horsemen of the Apocalypse (of the region Hell) got off to an early lead, attacking The Potato Alliance, which went poorly for the Potatoes. ATOMIC joined in the fight, and fought the Horsemen for several hours alongside the Potatoes. They were eventually joined by Ba Bing Se, Fuster Cluck and previous winners Augustin Alliance, but it was too little, too late for The Potato Alliance, who evacuated the faction, to minimize damage when launching attacks (by only staying in the faction for minimum amounts of time when launching nukes), and ATOMIC, who joined Augustin Alliance.
The fighting continued, mostly with Augustin Alliance and Ba Bing Se launching waves of attacks on the Horsemen, followed by the Horsemen returning fire. During one of the largest attacks, AA suffered the faction's only strikes of the event, although there were many during this attack. But the Horsemen were slowly weakening, and eventually Ba Bing Se, and later Augustin Alliance took the lead. AA never looked back, and went on to win the event (if winning is possible in nuclear war). The Potato Alliance made possibly one of the best comebacks in N-Day history, going from -65,000 points to second place. Ba Bing Se finished third with no radiation, which is also quite a feat. ATOMIC, while not winning in name, definitely contributed to AA's victory after the merger, but some survivors stayed back in the original faction and brought the faction back up to a positive score.
What have we learned from this event? We have arguably learned the power of puppets, as many R/Ders and card farmers used huge puppet armies in the event to produce more nukes and shields than ever before, possibly to a controversial amount. We've seen how you should never give up, as for many it looked hopeless when the Horsemen were over 100,000 points and everyone else was below 30,000, as well as the story of ATOMIC and The Potato Alliance. We saw how powerful interregional alliances are, as not only were these alliances so powerful but arguably it was the creation of non-aggression pacts by the Augustin Alliance that allowed the attacks on the Horsemen of the Apocalypse that won them the event. Possibly the greatest thing that some of us have learned, is to have fun. For me, it has been one of the most fun days on NS I've had. Sometimes we can be too serious, or too angry, but remember, this is something we do in our spare time, for fun. Hopefully everyone else had fun in this event.

Editor's notes Sorry for the gap between issues, I've been busy IRL as well as in NS. Don't expect an issue every week, I'll make them when I feel I can, and when I want to. Thank you for reading this issue, and please upvote if you want others to see it. Have any news stories that you would like to see in here? Then TG me with a brief explanation of what has happened/what you want to be in the story. Please make sure that it is NS-related, interesting to the general NS community and notable. Please do not ask me to make a story about moderator actions. I reserve the right to reject any story that I believe shouldn't be in The NationStates Chronicle.
Olá! Como brasileiro vejo que você fala Português. Nessa região é altamente recomendado falar Inglês, então sinto muito, mas não te deixo muita opção.
English: Hello! As a Brazilian, it seems like you speak Portuguese. In this Region it is highly recommended to speak English, so sorry, you don't have many options.

I think they mean that to submit, you must do it privately. Since you posted publicly, I can't accept that as a submission :P
For the same reason, I think I'll make my puppet dispatch look more like "Free las pinas card farm 1 - Free las pinas card farm 5", which would be way more convenient than "Free las pinas card farm 1, Free las pinas card farm 2, Free las pinas card farm 3, Free las pinas card farm 4..."
Of course, I'm gonna begin this month, because September sucks.
The current Lyonnesse East Senator in charge of Houses is Thedairos. Contact them with any questions!
Introduction to Houses
If you've been invited to join the 10000 Islands through NationStates via a telegram, or even if you joined without being invited, then you should check out the House system. There are several Houses around the 10000 Islands, and for a newer nation, it may get confusing. To clear things up, read over this simple guide. Houses are simply groups of nations recruited by the House founder and other House members (with a few exceptions explained below). They are a fun way to converse with other people and socialize with other members of the forum. Joining a House also shows your appreciation for the fantastic recruiters and welcome-message senders we have in the Islands.
How to Join a House
There are two options to go about joining a House here in the 10000 Islands. They depend on how you came across the region.
1) If you were invited to the 10000 Islands region by one of the nations who is already here, via a telegram through NationStates*, then you should join the House that they're in, if they're in one. If the person who recruited/invited you is part of a House, you'll may receive a telegram and/or private message on the forums regarding which house you should join. Some people may also inform you on the welcome thread (here). If you're not sure which House you're in, look at the profile of the person who recruited you. There will hopefully be a line under their number of posts that says "House of: [Name]." If they don't have that, then you should ask them which House they're in. If they are not in a House, then proceed to step 2.
2) If you've come across the region by some other method besides an invitation telegram, then you should choose which House you wish to join yourself. Whereas when you're invited, it's respectful to join your recruiter's House, when you've joined without being invited, you don't have to join a certain House, and you can choose.
* Note: The one exception is if you received a recruitment telegram from a nation belonging to Cerberion with "tag: api" as the recipient in the header of the TG. That means you were recruited by automated telegram, and can join any House you wish, per option #2.
To actually join a House, just post in the House's thread (listed below) saying you want to join or send a message to the House's founder.
Which Houses Are Out There?
There are several houses around currently, all started by dedicated recruiters. Some houses have more members than others. But remember, it's not about the quantity all the time, it's also about the quality. So, here is a list of the houses:
How Do I Add My House and Generation to My Profile and Signature?
To add a listing of your House or Generation in your forum profile, go to "Profile," then "Edit Profile," then the "Personal" tab. There are located dropdown boxes for "House of" and "XKI Generation."
You can also add a pixel badge for your House to your signature, if your House has one. First read how to add images to your signature(here). Then, copy one of the following codes into your signature and add [img] before and [/img] after the code:
To start a House, you've got to recruit, and to recruit, you've gotta follow the instructions (here and here). Once you contact the Minister of Immigration and begin recruiting, you can work towards the criteria for starting a House: 1,000 recruitment telegrams and approval from the Minister of Immigration and the Council of Nine. More on those criteria and further instructions for founding a House once you meet them can be found here. Note: the requirements to found a House are currently revised (more info here).
What Are Generations?
Generations show in what time period you joined the Islands, usually marked by the date you joined the forum (which can be found on your profile). The full list of generations can be found here. Some generations have their own threads (Elder, TITO, United Nations, Recession, Initiative, Acylyndia War, and Redesign). The generations and other population trends are graphically depicted by the XKI Genealogy Project here. The XKI Genealogy Project (headquartered here) is run by the Genealogist Paffnia and also manages the XKI Family Tree.
The XKI Family Tree
The XKI Family Tree (in its third version, created by the XKI Genealogy Project and found here) visually depicts the relationships between recruiters and the nations they have recruited, as well as nations' Houses and generations, similarly to a family tree. You can sign up for the tree and learn about the requirements here.
House Cup And Shield Competitions
Three times a year--in January, May, and September--the month-long House Cup and House Shield Competitions occur, run by the Senator for Lyonnesse East. The House Cup is awarded to the House that does the most collective recruiting over the month, based on a points system awarding nations recruited and recruitment telegrams sent, with bonuses at the Senator for Lyonnesse East's discretion for things like nations registering on the forum. The House Shield is awarded to the House that does the most recruiting per capita--each House's total House Cup points are divided by the number of eligible members of that House to determine the House Shield winner. All the details can be found here.
Additionally, the Senator for Lyonnesse East may also concurrently run the House Sceptre Competition, begun by The Candy Lane. The House Sceptre is awarded to the House of the individual nation whose recruitment telegram (sent out at minimum 500 times in the month) has the highest percentage recruitment success rate, provided that nation is willing to share the the telegram. Unlike the House Cup and Shield, the House Sceptre is not established by law and is run at the Senator for Lyonnesse East's discretion.
To make the Senator for Lyonnesse East's life easier, all House founders should keep a list of House members in the OP of the House thread, updated at least right before the House Cup and Shield starts. A note should be placed by every member who has CTE'd, is in the WA, or is Accelerator-eligible (in the WA and has been on the forum at least two weeks with at least ten posts), the last of which is used to calculate the House Shield.
The House Achievement Plan is a system of rewarding Houses for the deeds of their founder and members. Each House collects House Points for its members doing certain actions or achieving certain ranks, like being elected senator or winning the House Cup, for instance. At certain amounts of House Points, a House can gain a new pre-title, such as the "Grand House of [Name]" or the "Noble House of [Name]."
A full list of House Point values and achievements rewarded, as well as a list of pre-titles and associated point thresholds, can be found here.
Games and Fun
Besides the House Cup and Shield, the Houses may compete informally in game threads in Shelter's Taco Island and competitions hosted at the discretion of the Senator for Lyonnesse East. Here are a few examples for House Games:
If you have any questions or comments about Houses or anything else in this guide, contact the senator for Lyonnesse East, who is responsible for maintaining the House system, currently Thedairos (Thedairos' Office).
Yeah, but the thing about having hex puppets is that most people don't know Vpr 200 is actually the 513th puppet in the series... until they scroll (edit: and scroll and scroll) down to it (and don't find it cause it doesn't fit).
You can send me a TG here or a private message on the forum. Also, if you're not on the forum, I suggest you register, since it makes activities like this much easier to host. ;)
