The Dictatorship of Nethernos is a massive, efficient nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape, compulsory military service, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-working, cynical, devout population of 1.498 billion Nethernosians are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The tiny, moralistic, pro-business government is primarily concerned with Spirituality, with Law & Order and Defense also on the agenda, while Healthcare and International Aid are ignored. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6.7%.

The very strong Nethernosian economy, worth 99.4 trillion brovnoes a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Basket Weaving industry, with major contributions from Retail, Automobile Manufacturing, and Cheese Exports. Average income is 66,344 brovnoes, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 249,702 per year while the poor average 12,295, a ratio of 20.3 to 1.

Retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites, the Violetist community celebrates bombshells being dropped on Nethernos, shopkeepers use microscopes to verify the authenticity of banknotes, and the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting. Crime, especially youth-related, is relatively low, despite the fact that it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many laws. Nethernos's national animal is the eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.

Nethernos is ranked 158,369^th in the world and 315^th in Starlight for Most Developed, scoring 54.95 on the Human Development Index.
