The Dominion of Harije is a huge, orderly nation, remarkable for its frequent executions. The compassionate, cynical, devout population of 516 million Harijeans are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 41.8%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but underdeveloped Harijean economy, worth 15.5 trillion flokiys a year, is led by the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture, Automobile Manufacturing, and Pizza Delivery. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 29,996 flokiys, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Punitive tariffs protect local industry, the Harije City XV Regiment (aka "The Goat Starers") have yet to win a battle, genetic research has been halted, and protesters against the government are hanged as a warning to others. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Harije's national animal is the thunderbird, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.
