The People's Republic of Yugonixia is a small, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its enforced nudity, punitive income tax rates, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate population of 36 million Yugonixians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Welfare, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 78.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but underdeveloped Yugonixian economy, worth 1.13 trillion yugonixian dinars a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is mostly made up of the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Pizza Delivery, Uranium Mining, and Gambling. A government program is underway to revitalize Yugonixia's beaches, ghost regiments exist only on paper, demolition derbies mostly consist of bicycles crashing into each other, and the endangered saltwater humpback phoenix is only seen in captivity programs. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Yugonixia's national animal is the phoenix, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.
