Hey, guys. I'm a novice ML who seeks to learn more about the DPRK.

A little about me: I'm a second-generation Lebanese American who has a lot of family back home, so I'm pretty knowledgeable about the MENA region. Opposing Israel and Western involvement in the area has always been important to me, but over the last few years I've sought to learn more about why things are the way they are and create a more coherent worldview. It has been amazing to see how much more the world makes sense to me than it did before. I was ML-sympathetic long before that, though. In fact, some of my cousins are comrades!

People who say that the dozens of countries backing China on Hong Kong and Xinjiang are doing so just because they owe China are so close, yet so far... it's almost like the very reason for China being demonized is that it's providing alternatives to Western hegemony!

A true alliance between all of them is ...unlikely given the incompatible interests.

But now, China is also allies with Russia. There are a lot of cooperation.
Russian alliance with India is also shaky after India opted for Rafale combat aircraft from France and drew closer to the USA strategically.
So, sum total, the Chinese are calling the shots around the globe.

Awesome quote from an article I gotta read now! "Third Camp" or "both sides are equally bad" leftists make the mistake of equating those fighting imperialism with those fighting to preserve it. Even Trotsky (and I am by no means a trot lol he deserved the picc) said something to the effect of "If Britain attacked the fascistic government of Brazil [Bolsonaro prediction?], Marxists have the responsibility, especially in Britain, to oppose their imperialist government primarily, not to slander or attack the other side or equate them"

(OOC) Does anyone here think there's hope of constructive talks between North and South Korea again anytime soon, or did that ship sail with the collapse of their bilateral talks (largely due to US and, to a lesser degree, Japanese meddling and hardline stances on denuclearization) in 2019?

The hope is always there, but I honestly don't think a peaceful reunification could happen this generation. I don't think the South is ready for Juche as it is, if that makes sense. I think the DPRK would be the half that could more easily accommodate aspects of the South's social and economic norms while rejecting those that do not fit in with the best needs of the people.

As an aside, where does everyone here get their flags? I'm interested in getting a new one.
