The Protectorate of Wake DPR is a very large, pleasant nation, remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants, lack of airports, and vat-grown people. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 357 million Wake DPRians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Wake DPRians believe manners maketh the leader, the military is slashing spending on conventional arms and diverting it to spending on prosthetic arms, seafood restaurants regularly receive complaints that the food is still moving, and forgotten trend connoisseurs turn their nose at one wrinkle. Crime, especially youth-related, is almost non-existent, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Wake DPR's national animal is the Black Spotted Tabby Cat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
