The cynical population of 100 million Voiders are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The medium-sized, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 36.8%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Voidin economy, worth 3.06 trillion Atomic Particles a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is broadly diversified, is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining, Tourism, and Furniture Restoration. Average income is 30,602 Atomic Particles, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Organ donation is compulsory, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, going on a diet invalidates your passport, and skin-tone prom dresses are more unpopular than ever. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Void Runners's national animal is the Wormhole.
