The Kingdom of Venova is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by King William VI with an even hand, and renowned for its rum-swilling pirates, sprawling nuclear power plants, and keen interest in outer space. The hard-nosed population of 3.531 billion Venovans are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

The enormous, moralistic government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Venova. The average income tax rate is 71.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The all-consuming Venovan economy, worth 286 trillion Pounds a year, is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Cheese Exports, Book Publishing, and Information Technology. Research into 'designer babies' is banned, a milk bath costs more than bathing in money, people who have had childhood imaginary friends are told they can't ever be trusted with guns, and children who write letters to Santa Claus end up in straitjackets. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Venova's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Protestant Christianity.

Venova is ranked 16,445^th in the world and 4^th in The Alliance of Absolute Monarchs for Largest Cheese Export Sector, scoring 5,609.36 on the Mozzarella Productivity Index.
