The hard-nosed, cynical population of 6.363 billion Remless are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Deadmoon Circus. The average income tax rate is 45.5%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but stagnant Remless economy, worth 95.3 trillion Mirrors a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, quite specialized black market in Trout Farming, Arms Manufacturing, Book Publishing, and Basket Weaving. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 14,974 Mirrors, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Queen Nehellenia has been self-declared as the Most Supreme Magnificent Overlord of Everything You Ever Saw, the government is rumored to hire body doubles whose full-time jobs are to cry at public events, nudity is frowned upon, and the police force is rumoured to be made up of evil shadows with no souls. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nehellenia's national animal is the Pegasus, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.
