The National Republic of NC Auraxis is a colossal, efficient nation, ruled by Kerry Davidson with an iron fist, and notable for its compulsory military service, compulsory gun ownership, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 4.807 billion Auraxians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The relatively small, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tri-City. The average income tax rate is 16.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The thriving NC Auraxisian economy, worth 419 trillion Auraxian Standard Credits a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Basket Weaving. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Billions of Auraxian Standard Credits are being poured into a space program, police officers often conceal their identities to safeguard against public complaints, Kerry Davidson has just been declared ruler of NC Auraxis in an international press conference, and Kerry Davidson is the self-declared God of all NC Auraxis. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. NC Auraxis's national animal is the Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution, and its national religion is the 'Religious Majority'.
