The Federation of Mos Def is a mammoth, orderly nation, ruled by Muse with an iron fist, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, frequent executions, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, cynical, devout population of 5.209 billion Mos Defians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Administration, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New York City. The average income tax rate is 61.1%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Mos Defian economy, worth 478 trillion coins a year, is led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining, Furniture Restoration, and Arms Manufacturing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 91,876 coins, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.8 times as much as the poorest.

The police insist that racism does not exist, dangerous criminals are often 'accidentally' sent on one-way trips to Maxtopia, the government subsidises medicines of mass destruction, and the nanny industry has had a boom after maternity leave was recently banned. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Mos Def's national animal is the pigeon, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
