The democratic population of 108 million Dankzigers hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The medium-sized, liberal, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 33.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The Dankziger economy, worth 4.79 trillion greens a year, is quite specialized and led by the Gambling industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining, Retail, and Book Publishing. Black market activity is frequent. State-owned companies are reasonably common. The nation's first space rocket -- sponsored by Eckie-Ecola and shaped like an enormous soda bottle -- is being developed, political shows are fit for purpose, the dance skills of Leader are said to be almost as subversive as their politics, and the government puts forth the claim that harming young girls is wrong. Crime is a serious problem, probably because of the absence of a police force. Dankzig's national animal is the ganjalope, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
