The Conglomerate of Czerka Corp is a titanic, efficient nation, renowned for its compulsory military service, irreverence towards religion, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 10.21 billion Czerka are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The minute, corrupt, pro-business, well-organized government, or what there is of one, is effectively ruled by the Department of Industry, with Environment and Social Policy not funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Czerka Central. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Czerka economy, worth a remarkable 3,756 trillion credits a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Gambling, Retail, and Soda Sales. Average income is an amazing 367,909 credits, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 3,204,838 per year while the poor average 6,589, a ratio of 486 to 1.

Everyone apparently sends Leader hair-filled lockets, offers to die heroically, and poetic desires to co-parent a child, under doctor's orders Leader is going on a diet and abolishing capital punishment, citizens who plan overseas vacations are barred from running for political office, and the moon's craters are more numerous every day. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, probably because of the absence of a police force. Czerka Corp's national animal is the gundark, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
