The Democratic Republic of Amberia Island is a gargantuan, orderly nation, notable for its parental licensing program, ban on automobiles, and frequent executions. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 14.252 billion Amberians are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The large, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Trinivana. The average income tax rate is 47.7%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The Amberia Islandian economy, worth 895 trillion Pesos a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Book Publishing, Gambling, and Information Technology. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 62,850 Pesos, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.7 times as much as the poorest.

Religious organizations are being forced to leave the country or pay income taxes like everybody else, citizens sporting mohawks must carry family trees on them at all times, government spending has hit an all-time low, and Amberia Island has designated Trinivana as its capital city. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Amberia Island's national animal is the Cuban Trogon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
