| The Nomadic Peoples of Darwinian Interruptus | I was reading about the number of children growing up without fathers, many in dire financial trouble, all because the child's father refuses to step up to the plate and take care of his obligations. It turns out there are lots of men running around in this nation with children numbering in the teens, by many different women, who are not only not contributing to their children, they are actively knocking up even more women. This is becoming a problem for society in general, because these mothers and their offspring are landing on the public doles. The taxpayers are having to pick up much of the cost for these single mother families while the fathers are out making even more fatherless children. What do you think society should do about it? Today's poll comes from a story out of Panama where two protesters were killed while blocking a roadway.[1] Youtube is littered with anti oil protesters blocking roads and being physically abused by angry drivers for their trouble.[2] That brings us to the question of the day. While, depending on the country, protesters have some right to protest, do they have the right to force others to pay attention to the protest by blocking public roadways? What should be legal when drivers trying to get to work, school, doctors, etc, find their road blocked by a bunch of orange vested folks holding banners? The number of times he's stumbled is off the charts. The Secret Service has had to intercept him countless times as he wandered off in the wrong direction. The hard core science fiction fans said it not science fiction. The dystopian future fans send it didn't measure up to their standards. Me? I just thought it was a good book. | The Nomadic Peoples of Darwinian Interruptus | Texas and the Federal Government are at odds over controlling the border. The fact is that the current administration is giving little more than a wink and nod to people entering the nation illegally through the southern border. Texas bears a great deal of the stress on services and population from those illegal entries. Because of that, Texas took some matters into their own hands. They put the floating barricade up in the middle of the Rio Grande River. Texas had strung razor wire across miles of strategic portions of their border with Texas. They even went so far as to close a state park and banish the federal border patrol from it after the feds more or less commandeered the park to catch and release illegals crossing the border at that park. The state went on to arrest illegals coming across in the park for trespassing and jailing them. The Biden Administration sued texas and won some and lost some. But in spite of Supreme Court rulings, Texas Gov. Abbott continues to make every effort to enforce his southern border. There are some talking heads comparing this test of wills between Texas and the Biden Administration to the cold war. What do you think? New poll is up. |
