Suh-Car-Uh for me. :)

Just curious, is that the way people had pronounced my name in your head? Or had people thought Sack-Are-Uh?

Pretty much how English dictates it be pronounced. This is a play on the United Provinces concept between the Iroquois, Swedes and the Dutch in NJ, PA and NY.

Quick! I've gotta get on the bandwagon and account how the nation name is pronounced!

So I've accompanied a family member to the hospital for a surgery this morning. As I'm waiting, I'm watching both Adam Savage on Youtube build a 1000-shot Nerf gun, and hordes of nurses patrol the halls and waiting rooms with flu vaccinations.

And now I'm sketching plans for a pneumatic hypodermic flu vaccine Gatling gun.

The Total Solar Eclipse of Ruinenlust

~ Official Government Post ~

Dear friends,

We have an embassy request from the Official European Union. The size & age requirements are met, and we have also received the following telegram of interest from The Eastern Roman Empire of Dorianopolis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs:

---

We are a quasi-realistic RP region. We RP with a map of earth, with modern technology, but with mostly made up countries. For example, my country is located irl Singapore, but I do not RP as the Singaporean government, but instead a fictional state. Our RP includes a variety of topics from public policy, diplomacy, and war, to other topics like development of characters from our nations. We use a discord channel mostly for OOC communication, but most of our activity for both RP and OOC stuff is on the RMB. Our region is a few years old and has maintained its activity throughout the whole period of its existence, never going inactive for more than a few days, if that.

I think we would be a good match for the Forest region because we are a neutral region that seeks only closer relationships with peace loving regions who are dedicated to their region's RP, being respectful to one another, and having fun. We are also not an embassy collector region. We are trying to get to 50 embassies maximum with regions who are active and respectful. I only extend embassy establishing efforts to regions who I think we could have a friendly, constructive relationship with.

As for the environment, our region ranks in the top 12% of best environments and top 12% of renewable resources on NS. I am going to be frank, I do not know if that is impressive or not because I do not know where we should be with those stats with how many nations we have (under 30) and very few of them being particularly old. But I am proud of it because our region understands the importance of the environment, both in RP and OOC. For example, as mentioned, my nation is located in Singapore, but also occupies lands and islands around it. However, only the island of Singapore is inhabited and the rest of my land is national park reserves.

I hope that this is enough information and what you were looking for. This was the first time I had to really describe my region (I was just recently elected as MOFA), but it was quite fun actually. Please let me know if you need any more information or if you have any questions for me!

I look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Dorianopolis

As always, I encourage everyone to look at the Official European Union and to talk and discuss. See the political process. Be the political process. You ARE the political process. @_@

As for the naming thing, I absolutely refuse to tell anyone how to correctly pronounce Ruinenlust. It's such a big secret, nobody in Ruinenlust knows, either. I only told Stewie.

I hope that everyone is doing well IRL, as much as is possible. Regarding the SCOTUS thing, this is just a big ballistic missile into what was already a huge, multifaceted battlefield, so...yay.

All the best!

Don't be silly.

The "R" is pronounced "Ka", as in the c- noise in the word "carrot". Rui, of course, is normally pronounce as "coo-ee", like "coo-ee, it's me your next door neighbour." However the "nen" that follows shortens that sound and moves it slightly tonally, as well as inserting a hard glottal "d" in the centre of it's own sound and a soft rolling ending, at least in the Southern dialect, which is well-recognised to be the definitive source of received pronunciation in that nation. As for the word "lust", it is of course an abbreviation, and should always be pronounced in full as "lusttrakkensplooslech", or to break it down phonetically (which I'm sure you don't need me to do) is wiss-pah arr-kiiive.

So basically Ruinenlust, phonetically, I suppose would be pronounced as "Ka-nd..ull-wiss-pah arr-kiive."

I hope that clears things up.

I literally just pronounce it the way it’s spelled: Ruin + in + lust, simple

Edit:
My next question for Forest! How do you address the issues of N-Day and Z-Day? Are they canon, non-canon, alternate canon, or canon but in some different version?

We in MB view it as canon but in a different version. Rather than being real nukes, they are virtual nukes meant to help nations prepare in the case of a nuclear war, as well as to reinforce the severity of the threat posed by MAD in the minds of the people to help prevent nuclear war. The nukes are simulated, and it is all just a massive intergovernmental attempt to prepare/prevent a nuclear war, I assume created by the WA but open to all nations.

Z-Day, meanwhile, is also virtual. It started as a joke, but somehow it managed to be implemented, and is now a fully simulated worldwide Zombie outbreak simulator, like a less serious version of N-Day. However, it is taken seriously still, and governments still spend illions of dollars on it. Zombie apocalypses are very unlikely to happen, but this is just in case.

An icon. A legend. A champion for equality and justice, using practical, measurable goals to advance feminist equality through the gradual creation of actionable precedent in key cases that have had a profound effect on United States jurisprudence ever since their original argumentation.

Who else could I speak of but Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Notorious RBG, one of the greatest and most powerful feminists of her generation and an unexpected pop culture icon. In the wake of her death, now is the perfect time to look back on the career of this truly awe-inspiring woman. There is no better place to start than her cases argued before the United States Supreme Court, the most powerful court in one of the most powerful countries in the world. But of the six she argued, which one do you think is most important? What are your opinions on the questions argued in these cases? How do you think her tendency to argue in cases extending rights to men previously only given to women impacted how the Supreme Court ruled on key cases that broke barriers around gender inequality? Are there areas of the law you feel need a separation around how men and women are treated?

This N-Day's start time is stupid. Last year, it started at midnight for me, which meant that I was able to just add my puppets to a faction and when I actually started nuking people, I had enough production to do that ( in a large faction like Canopy). This year, it starts at 9:00 instead, which means that: 1. I can start nuking as soon as it starts, 2. I will have to wait for production, and 3. I have to wake up too early on a Sunday (it starts on the 27th for me).

Also, when will the Forest Keeper election start again?

We are overdue for the start, though if I'm honest, I'd be surprised if we'll see them triggered right before the N-Day event. Hopefully soon! Just trying to keep things running smoothly for now.

Same, and I have a question; What happens if you DON’T participate in N-Day?

Absolutely nothing, other than you just missed a once in a year event.

Ok, so it’s not like your citizens are gonna die from the war at all.

Correct. There are no long-term consequences to any of the special events, thankfully - any effects seen or flashy warnings about death and destruction exist only for the duration of the event, and don't affect your normal gameplay at all. It's fun to participate if you can, but no penalty if you can't.

Ok, I was just curious because I’m in school and it might be a little hard to participate during the event.

Yeah, same here with school and NS, though luckily for me N-Day is on the weekend, plus I can always check NS briefly in between periods.
