Here in Forest we aren't exactly an active roleplay region, you could join the discord for possible roleplay. I believe there is some roleplay in there.

If you want to get onto the map Roless would be your guy, there is also a link on how to join the regional map in the world factbook entry.

Edit: Glad to have you here as well!

The Most Serene Eco-Republic of Middle Barael

Though I do not normally pay much attention to Security Council legislation (I prefer the policy-focused GA over the gameplay focus of the SC), I urge everyone to vote against the current SC injunction. I myself supported it initially, and it certainly sounds positive with no wider context, but apparently this injunction was proposed by a Defender force who then proceeded to ignore the will of the native nations and the region's leader, who has since revoked their endorsement.

More info can be found here: viewtopic.php?p=41576659&sid=99205a80b48c1580dc9650c12b52b913#p41576659

Again, though I do not normally care much about R/D and SC happenings, I do not like subterfuge, especially when it relies on popular good wishes for the liberation of a raided region to circumvent the will of the natives and launch a coup d'état.

Thank you to Ridgefield for informing me of this, and good luck on your embassy proposal! You're proving a useful and benevolent ally already!

Sounds good to me. How does citizenship work here?

The Zephyrs of Zerphen

Fthia wrote:Sounds good to me. How does citizenship work here?

We don't have a formal citizenship process here. As long as you are a nation of Forest, you are considered a citizen and are able to vote in *most* of our votes. However, there are some votes that we have that require World Assembly membership, such as our elections for Forest Keeper in every March and September as well as amendments to our Constitution.

If you would like to--and assuming you have no other nations in the World Assembly elsewhere--you can learn more about the World Assembly on NationState's FAQ page here: page=faq#WA
And if you would like to join the World Assembly you can do so through the World Assembly page here: page=un

Once you do that, I encourage you to endorse our World Assembly Delegate Verdant Haven so that we have greater voting power on resolutions in the World Assembly.

On that note, welcome to Forest! This is a very thoughtful, welcoming, and inclusive community, so I'm glad that you've sought us out and come to join :]

The Nomadic Peoples of Ratmen

Squeak, squeak. Hello to you in the great greenout, that being the Forest. We are the Ratmen. We mean no harm, we swear to you. We are a collection of tribes of anthropomorphic rodents living basically anywhere there's food and that's pretty much anywhere. The role of a chief is a job, not a position of authority and there are many of them managing the tribal administration together with the general population. Other than that, any Ratman is equipped to handle their everyday lives.

Visit us, if you like. We are peaceful vegetarians enjoying the good things in life. You are our equals and we hope to be yours.

We thank you for the welcome and would like to remind every man and mouse to enjoy responsibly. First, do no harm to oneself nor the other. A good principle which saved many a nation, including us. Let me let you in on our origin story.

A very long time ago spanning countless generations of you and me a cataclysm of great impact affected the environment of our land. A terrifying force had been unleashed upon nature in great numbers containing a beast within that irreversibly altered the very nature of our people. This was never readily apparent to us. The beast was invisible and could only be pointed out in those afflicted by it. Some died. Those who didn't ended up defective and couldn't function. Others survived more or less as themselves, but still only had at best a decade before their bodies consumed themselves. Those who somehow lived longer in its vicinity never had children of their own.

Decimated, we all lived on doing what we had to do to survive. Improvising, adapting and overcoming too did take countless generations before us. It was an uphill battle. Eventually, we emerged from the ashes and dust with the relative lack of natural enemies nearby from where the beast couldn't touch us. Unknown to us, it was still very present, but its presence was tolerable to all of us as a whole much like to the rest of life on land.

Man, our longstanding enemy treating us as a pest and seeking to eradicate us lived no better than we used to. In fact, man started resembling us greatly in not just appearance but by how he lived: cramped up, moist, dark, barely tolerable. Man survived by becoming rat and rat survived by becoming man. Initially, resentment towards the rodentified humans was high for numerous reasons, but as they hadn't committed crimes against ratkind, we decided to let history stay as history and work together in unity of rat and man.

And so it was, in brief. A few lost souls attempted an act of revenge against them and have served the broader community their time for their turning back on that unity, as does anyone in freedom and fairness. We all built ourselves and everybody builds.

Well you'll be pleased to know that: Following new legislation in Grenviron, animal liberationists receive government funding to break into animal research labs.

In Grenviron, it is also understood that we Humans are animals alongside and equal to all others in this environment. I can see that you'll fit right in.

Indeed, we are not so different from one another, mammal to mammal. We don't have the time to hold petty grudges. When everything is already destroyed, nothing left to do but build. Spread no ill will of ratkind and the ratmen will have no quarrel with you. No sense in bothersome ruckus over nothing.

You may have questions about our flag. That is our nation rising above certain death and oblivion as well as the symbol of our institution of chiefdom to the top left. Bottom right, a much larger rat, symbolizing the people as a whole. The green stands for where life comes from and the black where life will return, the soil.

Our way of life, as we like to say, is summed up in a 'squeak'. It is our national motto. 'Squeak' is an abbreviation and its letters of stand for speed, quiet, unite, endow, allow and knock. 'Speed' stands for brevity, 'quiet' for discretion, 'unite' for unity and cooperation, 'endow' for enfranchisement and empowerment, 'allow' for our rights and liberties and 'knock' for privacy and sovereignty, especially when it comes to one's own home.

Above all, whatever you do, waste not time nor air announcing doing it. Just do it instead and you will thank yourself afterwards. The fruits of your labor are proof enough of your deeds and adventures. That is the true meaning of speed and quiet, but it has weight in doing your business as us and with us. A great deal of weight is placed on good business and honest business, on that trust, so that business may be both swift and discrete. We aim to change the meaning of 'rat' in how one carries oneself from underhandedness, as we have been slandered to be long ago to nobleness.

Far be it from us to be warlike and repeat the mistakes of our forebears. Then again, should a catastrophe such as that of a war involve us, it will be to defend ourselves and our surroundings. War is among the single greatest polluters, poisoners and destroyers of everyones home, nature. As such, we ratmen recognize war for what it is, a crime - and at no point will we ever fight in the wars of anyone else. We are rats. We can already live where no one else wants. We need not swarm anyone other than active threats to us.

We grow, we gather, we craft, we build, we brew and concoct, write, paint, make music, play games and sports but do not gamble and above all, live. Be sure to try anything that would catch your eye!

We, the ratmen, would like to voice our approval on this embassy. May the great greenout extend far across the horizon! May it provide life to all fortunate enough in its way! It is said that the true church of our people is the woods, for it has innumerable healing properties to those exposed to its influence for prolonged periods. Mutual prosperity through trade and diplomacy is the true way to glory!

I have created an account on your forums and made a proper introductory factbook to act as a lore dump for time being. View it here:

History

First, do no harm to oneself nor the other. A good principle which saved many a nation, including us. Let me let you in on our origin story.

Motto

"S.q.u.e.a.k.: Speed. Quiet. Unite. Endow. Allow. Knock."

Speed through your mission without wasting any time, whatever it may be.

Quiet yourself of anyone's doings, especially yours.

Unite the rat and man.

Endow everyone with power and knowledge over public affairs.

Allow everyone the rights and liberties everyone deserves at birth whosoever they may be.

Knock on the wood of the home of your fellow before entering.

Life and Culture

Our way of life, as we like to say, is summed up in a 'squeak'. It is our national motto. 'Squeak' is an abbreviation and its letters of stand for speed, quiet, unite, endow, allow and knock. 'Speed' stands for brevity, 'quiet' for discretion, 'unite' for unity and cooperation, 'endow' for enfranchisement and empowerment, 'allow' for our rights and liberties and 'knock' for privacy and sovereignty, especially when it comes to one's own home. 'Knocking', in addition to telling one to knock before entering also means visiting someone, because it is customary to knock on the structure to test its integrity before entering. One would 'knock on wood that the shack doesn't fall on you', so to squeak.

Above all, whatever you do, waste not time nor air announcing doing it. Just do it instead and you will thank yourself afterwards. The fruits of your labor are proof enough of your deeds and adventures. That is the true meaning of speed and quiet, but it has weight in doing your business as us and with us. Foreign policy

We grow, we gather, we craft, we build, we brew and concoct, write, paint, make music, play games and sports but do not gamble and above all, live. Be sure to try anything that would catch your eye! We use nails as a common medium of exchange, because everybody builds. Bringing some is not a requirement, but they grease the wheels of commerce greatly. All ratmen strive to build the biggest structure of their own to call home, so the amount or weight in nails one has confers a certain prestige through hard work.
