So for my nations history I need a nation in the rp who claimed my empire's land in 1649 (for my history). Preferably a nation in Europe who would have been exploring around Africa at that time. Thanksssss

Considering that Russia has never been a colonial maritime power, but expanded by direct integration of neighboring territories, it is poorly suited for this role.
