It's taken me two weeks, and it's still not technically finished yet because of ongoing events, but here is the full history of Anxious & Kevin in the Eurovision Song Contest!
Anxious and Kevin has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest a total of 15 times, making its debut in 2009. It has qualified for the final every single year, making it one of only two countries (the other being Ukraine) to have a 100% qualification record.
It finished 8th on its debut with SAFIA and the song Bye Bye. Since 2010, it has used the national final Voltavgovnis to select its entries. Their highest placement to date is 3rd, which they achieved in 2012 with Jungle and 'Busy Earnin'
History
Before Eurovision
Anxious and Kevin has been eligible to participate since 2004, after their broadcaster AKBS joined the EBU. However, AKBS initially chose to stay out of Eurovision, citing the nation's poor economic state at the time and doubts over whether they would be able to afford participation. From 2006 onwards, AKBS broadcast the contest despite not competing.
Calls for the nation to enter began shortly after 2006, however despite now being financially capable Anxious & Kevin still declined to participate, this time citing the politicisation of the contest and the lack of any sort of jury voting, which it felt brought the contest into disrepute due to the number of joke entries that littered the contest during the mid 2000s, similar to the reasons Austria and Italy also gave at the time.
However, the EBU stated its desire to encourage Austria and Italy to return to the contest, as well as encouraging Anxious and Kevin to debut. With the reintroduction of juries to the contest in 2009, AKBS announced it would debut at the contest in 2009 in Moscow.
