Winner of the race, Green candidate Hans Jekup

After two long days, it's finally official: Green candidate Hans Jekup will become the new Prime Minister of the Monarchy of Libertandonien. With 56% of the popular vote, he has won in one of the biggest landslides in the last 20 years.

On the same evening, Mark Magnussen conceded, stating: ''This election didn't necessary evolve into our advantage, but it was an honour to compete against Jekup and I wish his government luck.''
5 provinces, the provinces of Erikshavn, Bjornburg, Olafson, Sudland and Patrickston went to Jekup while the 3 provinces of Skogurland, Vesturland and the Faroes went to Magnussen.

The voter turnout stands at 83%, the highest voter turnout of all time.

Elected PM Hans Jekup also held a speech that evening in the Party-Headquarters, stating: ''Altough we both disagree in some views, he was an honorable man to compete against. [...] With this government, we have to bring this country forward and out of this pandemic. We finally have to seriously take on the problem of destruction of the environment, climate change and rising financial inequality.''

Hans Jekup was mayor from the city of Erikshavn from 2013 to 2021 and is with 61 years one of the oldest persons to become Prime Minister. He was part of the Youth SLP until switching to The Greens in 1985.

Federal Parliament

The conservatives have the biggest loss of seats out of all parties, with a total of 22 seats, from 51 to 29. The SLP has had the biggest gains of seats with 14, from 38 to 52 seats. Three new parties were elected into the parliament.
Those are the Taxation party with 6, the Farmer's party with 5 and the Pirate party with 4 seats.
