From where I stand, the most optimal economy is one where nobody goes poor, yet there are healthy amounts of ways to become rich. Where workers own the means of production in a competitive, capitalist-like, business environment.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's really possible to cherry-pick the best aspects of both systems in a realistic manner, but between the cons of the two I would rather the cons of capitalism since then there's at least a way out of poverty.
