Hmm, there seems to have been a patch to how the crafting timer works. It probably complicates things for the builders too, but it also makes builders harder to spy on.

Are you sure this isn't a bug? I reported it in the forum and am waiting for a response.

Trotterdam wrote:Eh, any contribution is appreciated, but like I said, resources aren't actually my biggest problem right now.

My main issue is that unlike other players, I'm not trying to simply test every combination possible (wow that would be boring), but rather trying to build only those items that are at least vaguely appropriate for my nation. (Seriously, I've spied on how to create an epic-tier "Large Pile of Hamster-Infested Scrap Metal", but why would I want one? The more mundane Fireworks Show it's crafted from sounds more fun to attend.)

I suppose metal would be the most valuable to me, since I only produce it at about half the efficiency of other resources myself. But this also depends on what your nation is best at producing, which you can only find out by experimenting.

Unfortunately, metal is also my least efficient. If you don't need the resources I can give to others instead? Let me know.

The Laser-Wielding Commune of Intergalactic Penguins

Also Trotterdam you seem to be currently top in the world for Most Effort XD

Well, I went ahead and made a Large Pile of Hamster-Infested Scrap Metal anyway. It's worth points, I suppose hamsters aren't totally inappropriate for a petting zoo, even if I hear a terrain consisting of scrap metal is normally frowned upon.

Having felt out how the game plays, I think you're right. The server is extremely laggy, and bursts of lag and resolution seemed to affect all wonders equally, regardless of what they've been doing.

That ate quite a bit into my resource reserves, so time to spend some time solving puzzles to replenish them...

Intergalactic Penguins wrote:Unfortunately, metal is also my least efficient. If you don't need the resources I can give to others instead? Let me know.

They're your resources. Donate them to whatever wonder you think is most deserving.

Intergalactic Penguins wrote:Also Trotterdam you seem to be currently top in the world for Most Effort XD

Well, I am putting in a lot of effort.

I'm not sure, but I think that score is based on the total number of resources contributed to the wonder.

Any clue on how you make Passenger Car?

The Principality of Trotterdam

Domestic Animal + Philosopher's Stone.

Well, technologically speaking, cars are a step up from horses...

Is there a wonder that you're a builder for?

EDIT: Found it.

The Principality of Trotterdam

Well, my tourists have a place to stay now. And that cost me almost all of my stone and wood.

Yeah, I was just trying out some stuff, but I'm going to go back to contributing to you.

The Soviet Republic of Free Stalliongrad

Trotterdam, didn't you remove the hamsters from the wheels that power the site's server? The forum keeps crashing and I can't enjoy this event properly! As if it wasn't already exhausting to solve these numerical puzzles.

The Principality of Trotterdam

It's just the usual minigame lag. Happens every year. The admins always underestimate how much server load the minigames will cause.

For now, I'm still chugging along on resource gathering with the puzzles, but actually building stuff seems impractical for the time being, for both us and others.

EDIT: Seems to be fixed now.

The Vermillion Republic of Urmanian

This is probably the most engaging minigame so far tbh. A lot of layers, like spying on other players for crafting recipes. It's also designed so that large gameplay regions can't insta-win by just spamming buttons. Hope future minigames are more like this, and also that Max Barry upgrades his server from a large potato with wires stuck in it.

The Principality of Trotterdam

I actually know the recipes to four different epic items that I don't want to build because they don't fit my theme. What kind of petting zoo has an Angry Volcano God? I mean, a friendly volcano god, I guess I could make that work, pandas already have a fiery color. But an angry one?

And why would we ever use Tactical Hang Gliders when we have pegasi?

I guess I should double up on the epics I already have if better ones aren't going to present themselves. I surely have the resources for it by now, and with the server working again, building them is actually plausible, though it'll take a while. And really, those epics also don't have GREAT flavor, even if they're vaguely fitting for the nation. What's the scoring like if I just stick to having lots of rares?

For non-pegasi? https://derpicdn.net/img/2019/1/17/1937933/full.png

The Principality of Trotterdam

Well, I have two more epics now. Wow, that was tiring. I managed to do it all in one run without running out of resources because of how big my stockpiles were. Now to pile some more stock...

The Principality of Trotterdam

Stocked up!

I'm currently at 7 epics, with 6 epics that I know the formulas for but decided not to get. Also, based on the NPC wonders, there are at least 6 undiscovered epics, not that they look interesting to me (no, I'm not going to build Desolate Warzone or Human Sacrifice).

EDIT: Seconds after I post that, someone discovers the first legendary. Well, there goes that stockpile...

...According to my math, constructing a legendary requires a total of 2491 constructions. It starts which need to build 120 copies each of 16 types of commons.

...I do not feel like doing this right now. And I suspect even my huge stockpile wouldn't be enough.

Okay, I ran the math (because it was more appealing than actually building the thing). Constructing this legendary would cost 480 Stone, 240 Wood, 480 Metal, 360 Food, 120 Textiles, 960 Chemicals, 480 Knowledge, 720 Logistics.

The Apocalypse of GeodesicDragon

After a lot of faffing around with the resource generator - and, if I'm honest, many bouts of swearing at the stupid puzzle we have to solve - I have come to the conclusion that my nation is good at producing Stone and Logistics.

The Principality of Trotterdam

I seem to have dropped a few ranks on the Most Effort list. Taking a nap will do that, I suppose.

And it looks like I picked a convenient moment to... take a break from my nap. I'm still feeling tired and the world doesn't seem to be exploding, so I should probably go back for a few more hours.

GeodesicDragon wrote:After a lot of faffing around with the resource generator - and, if I'm honest, many bouts of swearing at the stupid puzzle we have to solve - I have come to the conclusion that my nation is good at producing Stone and Logistics.

Stone is my second-worst resource after metal, so it would be nice if you could help with that!

The Apocalypse of GeodesicDragon

Trotterdam wrote:Stone is my second-worst resource after metal, so it would be nice if you could help with that!

Sure thing! I'll make a start when I get back from work.

The Principality of Trotterdam

We have our first legendary! That took about three hours to build, not counting the time spent gathering resources.

Also, I recall seeing us have over 40 net likes before, but now we're down to 30? I think someone's sabotaging us. Remember, you can vote with puppets :3

The Principality of Trotterdam

Well. The coders finally found and patched the bug that I really hoped they wouldn't notice (and that I mistakenly thought the actually-just-server-lag was meant to address). Lots of people are complaining about it on the forum.

The Soviet Republic of Free Stalliongrad

To all the ponies out there, comrades or not, by the end of the event I would like to aim to build an epic item and I'm aiming for the Opening Ceremony. So I ask anyone who is willing to provide me with at least the resources necessary to achieve this goal. To see the necessary resources, consult the index in the forum: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=548778
Thanks in advance.

This list might be incomplete. There doesn't seem to be a way to get a list of all nations that contributed to a wonder, even though you can get a list of all wonders that a nation contributed to.

Nice job with that Wonder of the World. 5th place in Most Impressive, 1st place in Most Effort, and all without the official backing of one of the big major regions. I spent a lot of time contributing to another, so I understand what that must have taken.

Also, I very much would like to visit a Panda Petting Zoo that is so monumental as to warrant it being described as one of the seven wonders of the world. Of all the top wonders, I believe I would choose to visit yours first.

With a puppet? You have no contributions listed on Black Ships.
