The Republic of Europeian WA Headquarters | Greetings everyone! There is a new vote in the General Assembly: Resolution at Vote: Long-Term Storage Of Produced Waste You can look at the forum thread for more information about the resolution. If you are a citizen, make sure to also vote in the forum thread. The forum tally determines the delegate's vote, so this is your chance to determine how Europeia's 300 votes are used! MINISTRY OF WORLD ASSEMBLY Information for World Assembly Voters Please find below another volume of the Information for World Assembly voters program. Resolution at vote: Long-Term Storage Of Produced Waste This resolution aims to regulate storage of waste. However, it does not remotely accomplish this task, instead regulating with vague provisions that do not actually have any effect on member nations. For instance, it mandates that all businesses must employ at least one storage facility, which is not only a logistical nightmare, not allowing small businesses to share storage facilities, but also does not even mandate that the businesses actually store much of the waste, as "employ" is too vague a verb. Furthermore, clauses 2, 4, and 7 are mere recommendations that encourage funding waste storage facilities, and the proposal does not have any actual system in place for funding such facilities in nations that cannot afford them. Clause 3 imposes arbitrary standards on storage facilities and imposes a "minimum standard of 70 years", which would probably be misinterpreted by member nations. Twice in the resolution, it mandates that "measures must be taken...", which does not actually have any effect or clarify what the nature of the measures should be. Another part of the resolution prone to misinterpretation is a clause that mandates that "penalties in form of monetary fines shall be distributed to businesses that do not take the necessary measures", which could actually be interpreted as businesses getting money rather than paying a fine! Appalled by the fact that this incredibly weak and low-effort resolution that wasn't drafted on the forum even reached voting stage, the Ministry recommends a vote AGAINST this resolution. All of us in the Ministry of World Assembly are proud of the work we accomplish in the Ministry. If you are interested in joining the effort, if you are interested in getting more involved in the World Assembly, possibly as an author or one of our staff putting together information for voters like yourself, then join the Ministry! We want both people who are eager to learn and people who already know their way around the World Assembly and can help us do our job even better. Joining the Ministry of World Assembly is a great way to get more involved in Europeia. If you're interested in getting involved, please contact the Minister of World Assembly, either by personal message on the forums (username: Seva) or by telegram (nation: Mancheseva City). We look forward to hearing from you soon! The Delegate casts the regional vote after consulting the results of the forum voting thread linked above. All citizens in Europeia can vote and discuss there, so make sure to do so! As usual, please consider endorsing Delegate Primorye Oblast, if you have not already done so. The more endorsements, the more votes Europeia has, and the stronger our voice in the World Assembly is! If you are no longer interested in receiving these telegrams, please edit your Telegram Preferences, and adjust the frequency with which you receive 'WA Campaign' telegrams accordingly. If you have questions about any of the above, please contact Minister of World Assembly Affairs Mancheseva City. Dispatch created on behalf of the Ministry of World Assembly. | |
