The Democratic Republic of Zolotaya is a colossal, efficient nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons, irreverence towards religion, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 3.453 billion Zolotayans are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Zolotaya's national animal is the Moose, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is State Atheism.
