The Republic of ThotIis is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates, suspicion of poets, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, democratic population of 3.08 billion Thots are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The medium-sized, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Dastreets. The average income tax rate is 54.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The ThotIisian economy, worth 190 trillion Waps a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is fairly diversified, is led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Trout Farming, and Information Technology. Average income is 61,791 Waps, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

ThotIis has one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world, drills and shovels have been banned as the government cracks down on any means of fracking, political speeches always take place at sunset to a background of patriotic power ballads, and more money is spent on policing the welfare system for abuse than on the welfare system itself. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. ThotIis's national animal is the Kitty, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

ThotIis is ranked 59,393^rd in the world and 2^nd in Arborhaven for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 1,928.25 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
