The Republic of Tea State is a massive, genial nation, notable for its state-planned economy, punitive income tax rates, and restrictive gun laws. The cynical, devout population of 1.051 billion Tea Stateans are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Welfare, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 68.4%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but underdeveloped Tea Statean economy, worth 33.7 trillion Teas a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is broadly diversified, is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry, with major contributions from Cheese Exports, Book Publishing, and Uranium Mining. Average income is 32,087 Teas, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, religious bigotry is not allowed but bigotry against theism is encouraged, students are wary of colorfully decorated new teachers with names like Professor Pipsqueak, and the installation of street lights across remote goat tracks has left citizens bemused. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tea State's national animal is the Tea, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
