The Insatiable Economic Hitmen of Tremalkier is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Khushal Khan with an even hand, and renowned for its ritual sacrifices, complete lack of prisons, and spontaneously combusting cars. Homeless people are periodically found dead upon altars to assorted deities, a National Academy regulates grammar and usage, jaywalkers are condemned to lives of poverty for their heinous crimes, and citizens who leave the country are officially classed as traitors. Crime, especially youth-related, is so common that it is unusual to encounter someone following the law, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Tremalkier's national animal is the Peregrine Falcon, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Laïcité.
