The Divine Militant Worker State of Pletamia is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Supreme Leader Konrad Sinclair with an iron fist, and remarkable for its closed borders, fear of technology, and restrictive gun laws. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 16.125 billion Pletamians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized morass — is primarily concerned with Defense, with Law & Order and Environment also on the agenda. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Aesium. The income tax rate is 100%.

The frighteningly efficient Pletamian economy, worth a remarkable 5,633 trillion Plentonics a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, highly specialized black market in Arms Manufacturing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. State-owned companies are the norm. Average income is an amazing 349,367 Plentonics, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

10-year-olds who struggle with integrating by parts are considered slow learners, chain-gangs are often seen toting barges and lifting bales, Supreme Leader Konrad Sinclair's family members carry literal get-out-of-jail-free cards, and the government is suspected of mass disappearing dissidents both at home and abroad. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Pletamia's national animal is the Black Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its national religion is Pletamian Christianity.
