The Federation of New Bristol is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by Gordon McMurtry with an even hand, and remarkable for its smutty television, digital currency, and restrictive gun laws. The hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.821 billion New Bristolians are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

The relatively small government prioritizes Defense, with Healthcare, Education, and Administration also on the agenda, while Spirituality and International Aid receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Avon. The average income tax rate is 19.2%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The thriving New Bristolian economy, worth 142 trillion pounds a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Retail, and Information Technology. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 78,489 pounds, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.3 times as much as the poorest.

People can get away with murder these days, the public are free to vote for whomever the government wants in office, people are raising their middle finger to non-digital currencies, and people think garlic bread counts as one of their "five a day". Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, despite the fact that it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many laws. New Bristol's national animal is the emu, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
