The Kingdom of Nea Ellas is a large, safe nation, notable for its compulsory military service and frequent executions. The cynical, devout population of 50 million Ellasians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 38.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The Nea Ellasian economy, worth 2.03 trillion drachmas a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Book Publishing, Uranium Mining, and Beef-Based Agriculture. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 40,529 drachmas, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.4 times as much as the poorest.

The running costs of homeless shelters are so high that it would be cheaper to buy houses for the homeless, pandemics are over and done with by the time it takes to pass the nation's stringent border security, destitute athletes are forced to train in the street, and multilingual concierges man empty inner city apartment blocks. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nea Ellas's national animal is the dolphin, which frolics freely in the nation's sparkling oceans.

Nea Ellas is ranked 276,177th in the world and 27th in Mediterranean for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring -58.31 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
