The Democratic Republic of Geploastan is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Prime Minister Graves with a fair hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls, compulsory military service, and pith helmet sales. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful population of 2.629 billion Geploastanians enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The enormous, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Healthcare, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Choibridge. The average income tax rate is 93.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Geploastanian economy, worth 329 trillion Federal Rials a year, is highly specialized and mostly made up of the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology and Book Publishing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 125,255 Federal Rials, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Captains must wait until all rats are safe before jumping ship, the government has enacted freedom of information, minority children spend hours bussing to schools miles away from home, and nobody looks each other in the eye at neighborhood block parties any more. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Geploastan's national animal is the dog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Cake.

Geploastan is ranked 29,421st in the world and 678th in the South Pacific for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 222.7 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
