The Dream of Barbroussia is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by General Gungun with a fair hand, and notable for its punitive income tax rates, devotion to social welfare, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, democratic population of 2.695 billion Barbs are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The large, liberal, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Administration, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Equitopia. The average income tax rate is 65.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Barbroussian economy, worth 261 trillion Galleons a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, fairly diversified black market in Tourism, Information Technology, Retail, and Arms Manufacturing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 97,061 Galleons, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

General Gungun makes and breaks shaky peace deals in 140 characters or less, biology and religious education classes have recently been merged, policy reversals are more often graceful demi-détournés than u-turns, and the media seems excessively interested in what General Gungun is wearing this season. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Barbroussia's national animal is the Pelican, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its national religion is Catholicism.

Barbroussia is ranked 158,352^nd in the world and 380^th in The Communist Bloc for Largest Automobile Manufacturing Sector, scoring 536.59 on the Henry Ford Productivity Index.
