The Grand Duchy of Diogott is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Grand Duke Karl Eduard II with an even hand, and renowned for its rum-swilling pirates, fear of technology, and punitive income tax rates. The hard-nosed, humorless, devout population of 26.201 billion Diotians are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed, including voting. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.
The large, corrupt, moralistic government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Merano. The average income tax rate is 96.9%.
The enormous but inefficient Diotian economy, worth a remarkable 2,708 trillion kreuzers a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, despite the fact that it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many laws. Diogott's national animal is the Charles Edward Lemur, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Roman Catholicism.
