The Kingdom of Dainuis is a gargantuan, orderly nation, ruled by John John with an iron fist, and notable for its punitive income tax rates, restrictive gun laws, and stringent health and safety legislation. The cynical population of 16.876 billion Dainuisians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, moralistic, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Liontown. The average income tax rate is 62.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but stagnant Dainuisian economy, worth 136 trillion rubles a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, fairly diversified black market in Soda Sales, Furniture Restoration, Basket Weaving, and Trout Farming. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 8,108 rubles, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Urban graffiti is hand-calligraphed in perfectly kerned elegant fonts, the deceased are buried mostly to hide them from state-sanctioned corpse-collectors, politicians take citizens for idiots, and suburban backyards are seized by the government and turned into national parks. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Dainuis's national animal is the lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Defenderism.
