The Dictatorship of Cotoken is a massive, efficient nation, notable for its daily referendums, pith helmet sales, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 1.177 billion Cotokenians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The medium-sized, corrupt, pro-business, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Education, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 42.5%.

The frighteningly efficient Cotokenian economy, worth 171 trillion Axes a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Retail industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Automobile Manufacturing, and Tourism. Average income is an impressive 145,918 Axes, but there is an enormous disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 818,954 per year while the poor average 12,873, a ratio of 63.6 to 1.

Robotic spouses prove to be just as imperfect as flesh and blood ones, citizens recently voted in favour of declaring bubblewrap an 'abomination of nature', pawn shop reality shows dominate basic cable, and Leader's luxurious new home has been designated as a protected cultural heritage site. Crime is totally unknown. Cotoken's national animal is the Deer, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Cotoken is ranked 11,789th in the world and 10th in Kelios for Most Cultured, scoring 107 on the Snufflebottom-Wiggendum Pentatonic Scale.
