The large but inefficient BotumlesPitian economy, worth 158 trillion Pupees a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, highly specialized black market in Trout Farming, Basket Weaving, and Woodchip Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 24,773 Pupees, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Holidays are regarded as the most miserable time of the year, politicians tend to speak more loudly and slowly these days, teen boys and girls find stick-figure-aided lectures on their comradestruation emphasises socialist unity more than biology, and the only crimes that get investigated are doughnut heists. Crime is a problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. BotumlesPit's national animal is the scrabble dove and its national religion is Nope.
