The Emirate of Adlaina is a colossal, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape, frequent executions, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 2.834 billion Adlainans are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The minute, pro-business, outspoken government, or what there is of one, is dominated by the Department of Law & Order, although Industry, Healthcare, and Public Transport are also considered important, while Spirituality and International Aid are ignored. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 4.9%.

The very strong Adlainan economy, worth 200 trillion Casisns a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Furniture Restoration, and Automobile Manufacturing. Average income is 70,647 Casisns, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 233,052 per year while the poor average 16,027, a ratio of 14.5 to 1.

Criminals are executed and their property seized, the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, punitive tariffs protect local industry, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is a problem. Adlaina's national animal is the Jinn, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
