The United Provinces of The Midwestern Atlantic Colonies is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by President Sandra Vornas with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls, multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, and sprawling nuclear power plants. The compassionate, democratic population of 11.43 billion Midatlantans are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The large, liberal, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Education, Industry, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Mervais. The average income tax rate is 83.6%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Midatlantan economy, worth a remarkable 1,677 trillion Atlins a year, is quite specialized and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Retail. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 146,722 Atlins, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

It is not politically correct to suspect that a serially convicted burglar might steal again, government statisticians explain census inaccuracies by declaring that "Sith happens", hospitals fear government fines more than terrorist ransoms, and all new "spies" are fifteen-year-old acne-ridden kids on computers. Crime is totally unknown. The Midwestern Atlantic Colonies's national animal is the Trout, which frolics freely in the nation's sparkling oceans.

The Midwestern Atlantic Colonies is ranked 225,538th in the world and 4th in West Atlantic Organization for Highest Disposable Incomes, with 24,062.48 Standard Monetary Units.
