Decreto Imperial n.º 523 — de 28 de janeiro de 2024. Outorga-se ao primogênito do herdeiro aparente do Império da Ipeônia, Sua Alteza Imperial o Príncipe de Arturópolis, o título nobiliárquico de Rei de Bragância. Em nome de Sua Majestade o Imperador, o Símbolo do Estado e, por Unânime Aclamação, o Perpétuo Defensor da Ipeônia, proclama o seguinte decreto para reestabelecer um antigo título de nobreza em reconhecimento à história e tradição de nossas querências:
Decide, por esta ação, outorgar ao primogênito do herdeiro presumido do Império da Ipeônia o título nobiliárquico de “Rei de Bragância”, com o tratamento de “Majestade Real”. Este título será de natureza cerimonial e honorífica, conferindo ao detentor os direitos dinásticos para perpetuar a linhagem real e estabelecer a conexão indissolúvel entre o Reino de Bragância e o Império da Ipeônia. Exorta a toda a população imperial a saudar de capa erguida e respeito crioulo Sua Majestade o Rei de Bragância, enxergando nesse título uma marca viva do nosso pago e da história que a peonada carrega nos arreios. Decides, by this act, to confer upon the firstborn of the presumptive heir of the Empire of Ipeonia the noble title of “King of Bragantia”, with the style of “Royal Majesty”. This title shall be ceremonial and honorary, endowing the holder with dynastic rights to the continuity of the royal lineage and the indissoluble connection between the Kingdom of Bragantia and the Empire of Ipeonia. Urges all imperial citizens to greet His Majesty the King of Bragantia with due respect and to recognize the importance of this title as an expression of the living history we carry with us. For byti (to be), there is also a future, with which all other future tense are formed. Also, the aorist is further divided into imperfective (bieh, bie…) and perfective (byh, by…) But for perfective verbs (in contrast with the more abundant imperfective) the grammatical present indicates the future, and the imperfect doesn’t exist. For participles, we have the active and passive, each having present (which doesn’t exist for perfective) and past. There’s also a resultative (l-participle) which is by default past, and for byti there is also a future active. Participles decline like nouns. "They are called Emnians, and their seven tribes reside along the northeastern borderlands of our great and invincible Empire. Their language, which is also called Emnian, is barbarous in character and wears no semblance of refinement whatsoever. I am doubtful that this people shall ever rise to the prominence of our enlightened Alentia, but doubly am I convinced that they shall never pose any threat to her either." —Judaeus the Literate, On the History of the World and its Peoples The language would enter prominence during the invasions of the Alentian Empire between 510 and 525 CE, in which the Emnians themselves would emerge as the primary antagonists and landtakers. The mass migration was frequently violent in character, and the armies of Alentia were utterly overwhelmed by the men, women, and children of an entire nation driven out of its own land by misfortune. Since the days of the invasions, the language itself has been handed down from generation to generation of Emnians, with each twisting and reshaping the malleable tongue to suit the realities of their day. It has taken many forms — from the sharp and utilitarian Old Emnian first carved into stones by those tribal peoples, to the floral and poetic Middle Emnian that graces the pages of epic tomes and religious texts, to the comfortable and familiar language which can be heard on the street corners of the modern day. The oldest undisputed grammar of the Old Emnian language was written shortly after the Invasion Period; the Book of Emnian Wisdoms was written by an unknown Alentian author living in Gestracabira (modern day Stourbridge) in the first few decades after the migration of the Emnians. Though any vestiges of the original manuscript are lost to the tides of history, what is believed to be the entirety of the text is preserved in the numerous quotations, responses, and ripostes to the work over the years, making its anonymous author ironically one of the most quoted authors in the field of Emnian linguistics. Until the standardisation of Middle Emnian following the unification of the Emnian High Kingdom in 968 CE, the rules described in the Book of Emnian Wisdoms formed the basis of all educated Emnian writing, even as the spoken language itself began to drift noticeably from the written. The first state-sponsored grammar school was established a generation removed from the Unification by Arcunian the Good, the second High King of Emnia. The purpose of this act was twofold: to propagate the Emnian language among the rising power's non-Emnian subjects, and to address the now-critical issue of the divergence of the spoken language's grammar and phonology from the increasingly defective orthography and conventions of Old Emnian. Of those scholars who were active in the grammar school of Arcunian, Breda stands out for her reforms to the Emnian script. She introduced the Alentian alphabet for use in writing Emnian, effectively 'civilising' the language in the eyes of the Kingdom's Alentian subjects. From the same generation of scholars came Toldar the Young, who examined the changes in grammar and syntax between spoken Middle Emnian and written Old Emnian, and published new grammars and primers that were more reflective of the contemporary language. Like the Book of Emnian Wisdoms before it, Toldar's work Emnian Speechcraft was foundational to the highly standardised Middle Emnian language for generations. As is the natural course of all things, the Emnian language has continued to evolve and be reformed. Though the differences between Middle and Modern Emnian are not as striking as those between Old and Middle Emnian, they have nevertheless accumulated, resulting in the contemporary language presented in this document — a long and proud legacy that began with the Emnian migrations so long ago. | |
