The Federated States of Domanania

If anyone wants to mayhaps get involved in launching ballistic missiles at your neighbor (or threatening to do so) i am putting out feelers for customers who might want some fine Doman missiles. (This isn't also totally to set up a ballistic missile control regime to prevent too many people from having missiles, trust me)

Crow Ballistic Missile

Overview

The Crow ballistic missile is the first domestically produced ballistic missile of Domanania. Based on other designs in the region, the first missile was produced in 1981 and has undergone numerous upgrades and changes across the years, and as recently as 2019. It was designed to be launched from TEL, but recently has been modified to be launched from smaller missile pods, aircraft, and even submarines.

Domanania maintains no nuclear weapons, and instead focuses on conventional secondary strike capabilities and deterrence with its ballistic missiles. This includes striking land targets such as air fields, command centers, and logistical centers. As of 2012 this was expanded to naval targets, which helps act as a set of deterrence against naval hostilities within it's range. Domanania continues to push for other advanced systems that are individually more effective in these roles (such as the Common Hypersonic Weapons Project), but ballistic systems remain an attractive option due to their relative lower cost and ease of manufacturing.

Domanania has agreed to trying to limit the development of longer range ballistic missiles, trying to prevent an arms race for Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles (IRBM), and puts limitations on its own missile programs. It also heavily limits the export of MRBM technology or systems.

Crow I

The Crow I missile was originally designed in 1980 as a surface-to-air missile (SAM). The missile was originally designed to intercept ballistic missiles using a large fragmentation warhead, but a simple change to the internal systems allowed the missile to act as a ballistic missile. The Crow I-B replaced the older booster stage with a locally developed version, which gave it greater speed and range. The system never entered service as a SAM, and the II-B was decommissioned from service by 2000.

Crow II

The Crow II was a medium range ballistic missile that was designed to replace the Crow-I missiles in service. Early on the armed forces understood the limitations of such a short range ballistic missile, and sought to field a theater/medium range ballistic missile. Taking lessons of the Crow I-B, the Crow II began development in 1985, and would enter service in 1991.

The missile is designed as a bunker busting missile, capable of destroying underground facilities, as well as anti-airfield operations.

II-A: The II-A missile was introduced in 1991 as a single stage missile to replace the Crow I-B. It served as a short range bunker buster and anti-airfield missile. It was the first Doman missile equipped with a Maneuverable Re-entry vehicle (MaRV). While a MaRV could be used to increase the range with the addition of a boost glide system, it instead focused on accuracy over range.

II-B: The II-B is a two stage version of the II-A. It increased the range to 2,000km as well as having the ability of equipping two smaller MaRV or up to 4 Multiple Reentry Vehicles (MRV), to disperse 125kg high explosive and/or thermobaric warheads over a greater area. While the MRV's are not capable of targeting individually, the missile system can control the dispersion somewhat. The MRV's are designed to destroy dispersed targets such as airfields, supply depots, and troop formations in an area of 25,000 square meters. It entered service in 2005.

II-C: The II-C is a coastal anti-ship variant of the II-B, with a range of roughly 1,500km. It uses a boost-glide MaRV to keep the missile at a low altitude to avoid detection and interception, as apposed to boosting its range or accuracy like in the A or B-variant. It utilizes Synthetic Aperture Radar to increase its accuracy, relying on satellite communication and UAVs to maintain its high accuracy. It is an evolutionary design as more UAV's are designed and built with better technology to better assist its targeting. It entered service in 2012

Crow III

The Crow III was an attempt in 1996 to develop a cruise missile based on the Crow platform. The missile saw limited active service, as the project was absorbed into the Thunderbolt project that was lead to a multinational collaboration.

Crow IV

The Crow IV were attempts at tactical ballistic missiles based on the Crow II to develop a single-stage, reduced-range version of II-B with the same range as the II-A, while also fitting two of the missile on a single TEL. This would lead to the development of the MPLS 600mm tactical ballistic missile, and later becoming the foundation for the ALSOW Ballistic Missile. Neither version entered service under the crow family, but still attribute their start to the missile's development.

Crow V

The Crow V is a modification of the Crow II-A designed to be launched from Submarine VLS systems. The size had been reduced slightly to fit within the submarines, however it still maintains a similar range. The new missile doesn't use a MaRV, instead focusing on incredible accuracy. This accuracy is needed for the missile's purpose, which is second strike capability. The missile focuses on underground bunkers and hardened targets which may be difficult to destroy with longer range, conventional weapons without a land base of operations.

Crow VI

The Crow VI was announced in 2024 as the next planned stage of the Doman ballistic arsenal. It would be an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM), which is expected to have a range of around 5,000km. The missile will be based on the Crow-II B with the differences being an increased diameter and additional boost stage for a total of 3. The missile will carry a 1,000kg warhead containing either a Unitary HE, multiple reentry vehicles (MRV), or multiple maneuverable reentry vehicles (MaRV). The plan for the missile is to increase the strike range and potential for conventional deterrence.

According to internal sources, the cost of the missile makes it attractive for deployment, due to its relative low cost. It will also be highly versatile, carrying larger payloads with reduced range, up to 2,000km with a 3,000kg payload. The MaRV's used by the Crow VI contain some of the most sophisticated targeting capabilities, allowing them to more accurately guide themselves to the target.

Alright, time to play ball, enough with the goofy news posts.

The Sarcasm King of Segentova

Been thinking about people saying x-country has no right to exist recently. I sort-of agree. No country enjoys an inherent right to exist, rather they exist because they are able ro enforce a governing system, borders, taxation, etc. And when these become compromised - usually the country stops existing.
Alternatively, I see how you could say that as long as a country is able to do these things, then it has a right (of sorts) to exist - but then a lot of countries would be up for grabs... I guess if anyone is into neo-colonialism this could be a good justification...

I’ll probably start developing my military factbooks very soon, considering how i’m getting involved in the Faronna Islands thing. Plus i should just probably work on them anyways.

Is it settled that you've been placed on Argus? Or still a chance you'll be in the South Mesder? If you end up in the South Mesder, Amestrris could attempt an invasion during the Imperial War, if you're neutral or a Free Power. Otherwise, welcome and excited to see where you place on the map! :)

Question: So recently i’ve been doing some research into Outer Space in TWI. And i have some questions.

1. No (crewed) lunar landings have been made yet, but are there any in planning?

2. What are the planets called? Is TWI located in the same solar system as Earth or what?

3. Is there any sort of list on nations that have been to space?
