Bloody Tuesday Pt.1 // Novyymoscovia Oblast // UFSSR
Due to Matthew Novikov's inactivity as his health declines, demonstrations begin in waves in cities like Kyiv, Tashkent and even Novyymoscovia itself. The people want a new leader that is fit to run. As the demonstrations get worse and worse, Matthew Novikov attempts to give speech on live television to no avail. The people want him out. A previously unknown General called Dimitri Fedorov had been getting super popular due to his Anti-Novikov and Isolationist views, he had attempted a rebellion against the government in Sankt Petersburg which had gone horribly wrong. A majority of his followers were arrested and he was sent to jail for 3 years for inciting a “riot”. Now that he was finally out and with his followers growing especially in the military due to two wars which had technically been losses for the Soviets, he attempted a second rebellion, this time in the heartland of the UFSSR.
On a dark tuesday morning, tanks numbering around 23 were seen driving from a military depot in the city of Tver towards Novyymoscovia. Crowds of people watched as the tanks rolled down the M10 highway. Spearheading the tanks was General Dimitri Fedorov who had managed to get a hold of the tanks due to his high ranking in the army. As news got to the Kremlin, chaos ensued within the government. With the majority of the army in Siberia or on the German border, help wouldn't arrive fast enough. The Chairman of the Presidium and son of Matthew Novikov, Maxim Novikov, sprung into action to counter the attempted coup. Sandbags were set up and anti tank weapons were brought from nearby stockpiles, separate tanks and heavy armored vehicles also patrolled the streets of Moscow in case of any inside infiltration. As Dimitri Fedorov advanced towards Moscow, the government braced for a full on firefight. The government tried keeping all of this under control but it eventually got to the media. With no other choice left, Maxim Novikov gave the following speech to the public via live television:
"Citizens of The UFSSR: On this Tuesday Afternoon, the security of our leader and our entire government is at risk.
Regardless of the reasons given for this attempted ousting, we are dealing with an uncalled-for, reactionary, anti-constitutional coup. Despite all the difficulties and severe trials being experienced by the people, the political views in this country is acquiring an increasingly broad sweep and an irreversible character. (Referring to the people's outrage of Matthew Novikov's age)
These developments gave rise to angry reactionary forces, pushed them to irresponsible and adventurist attempts to solve the problems of our leader and government by methods of force. Attempts to realize a coup have been tried earlier.
We considered and consider that such methods of force are unacceptable. They discredit the union in the eyes of the whole world, undermine our prestige in the world community, and return us to the Post-Frozen War era along with the UFSSR's isolation in the world community. All of this forces us to proclaim that Dimitri's so-called “Call to Arms” against our government is unlawful.
Undoubtedly it is essential to give this country's leader and my father, Matthew Novikov, an opportunity to address the people. Today he has been blockaded. I have been denied communications with him due to the government keeping him in hiding. We demand an immediate convocation with Fedorov's high command, which he is leading this unlawful and uncalled-for uprising with. We are absolutely confident that our countrymen will not permit the sanctioning of the tyranny and lawlessness of the putschists. Furthermore, we address an appeal to our servicemen and servicewomen to manifest lofty civic duty and not take part or spread misinformation about this reactionary coup.”
The Citadel Square Insurrection The bombing of the bridge in Nova Alderaan lays a mystery to the entirety of Antarctica. Despite having found the suspects for the bridge bombing, no further true information has been released regarding the bombing. The Antarctic National Assembly since then has lifted the closing off of Nova Alderaan but keeps the city under high guard. The soldiers of the imperium can be seen at every corner and the citizens of the city have gotten restless. Those who live on the northern island of Nova Alderaan resent the large number of soldiers. It comes to a head in the Nova Alderaan Citadel Square. Before Eternal Emperor Valkan’ar leaves the citadel to return to his personal residence further inland, anti-NAF protesters arrive in the square. The protesters shout continuously for the end of the National Antarctic Faction and an end to the militarisation. Valkan’ar on the inside of the citadel, worried of a possible attack on him if he attempts to leave, calls upon security forces to escort the protesters away from the citadel. The protesters demand to have the Eternal Emperor see to their demands to get rid of the soldiers in Nova Alderaan. Antarctic security forces arrive in the square soon later and attempt to get the protesters out of the square as quickly as possible. Continuously the protesters deny it and demand to see the Emperor before there is any chance of them leaving. Protester Shun Glippo then begins to get confrontational with security forces and eventually pulls out a gun and shoots it at an Antarctic Security officer. The security forces shout “Hail Antarctica” and immediately shoot on the protesters in retaliation. The Shun Glippo is shot dead and parts of the crowd try to run. But, a surprise to the security forces, many of the protesters came armed, and opened fire on security forces. A full firefight commenced inside the square with some of the protesters saying to capture parts of the citadel. A group of them managed to break into the east wing and set fire to the building. Security forces unleash the newly produced Robot Hounds onto the crowd whilst continuing to fire. Antarctic Military forces soon arrive to deal with the insurrectionists and they continue their use of lethal force against the armed crowd. After a short while the crowd surrenders but only after the security forces stop hearing any more gunfire from the crowd. The rest of the crowd are arrested by security forces and the Citadel is put under high watch after the event. NAF members demand the creation of a private security force after the event as not only had the main target of the Nova Alderaan Bridge Bombing been a member of the NAF but multiple NAF members had been injured in the insurrection due to the protesters and fire. Valkan’ar places in an order, to that in the current crisis, the NAF is permitted to have its own separate security forces along with other of the lesser parties in the National Assembly. To the opposite effect of the protesters wanting, more security forces were sent to the northern island of Nova Alderaan and those on the mainland called for the island to be cut off to keep the mainlanders safe. As for parties against the NAF, they say that the events that took place in the square were a massacre while the government states it was a quelling of a violent uprising against the state.
