The Provisional Government of Battania The Provisional Government of Battania (Rialtas Sealadach na Battania), also known as Battania or the Foraois, is a country located in Bavatia, in Araseos, bordering the Loch an tSlánaithe (Keltic: Lake of Salvation) to the West. The Foraois borders only two nations, being The Kaiserreich of Terreich und Preussen to the north and Lahnhof to the south and east. Battania has an estimated population of 112,290,002. The Provisional Government of Battania is currently the temporary governing body of Battania headed by the Chomhairle um Leanúint le Slándáil agus Feidhm Stáit (Keltic: Council for the Continuation of State Security and Function), now renamed An Chomhairle um Leas agus Rathúnas na Batania (Keltic: Council for the Welfare and Prosperity of Battania), a de jure military junta that is represented in international affairs by General Eòran Magees as Representative of the Council, and General Dubh Ó Briain as Spokesmen of the Council who handles internal and public affairs. As of right now, Battania is made up of 26 counties and 2 Autonomous Territories, being Albain and Upper Ostair. Albain is made up of 6 counties and Upper Ostair is made up of 9 which brings the total to 41 counties. The nation’s state religion was previously atheism due to the Communist ideology of the previous government, but freedom of religion has been allowed though Páganachas has been reinstated as the official religion. The military, having first played a role in governing Battania during the Free Battanic Republic, it now effectively controls all of the political power in Battania. Despite being a relatively small country, Battania is characterized by a significant variety of climate conditions. All transitional types of climates are found here, starting from the small arid climate of the Ghainmheach semi-desert and ending with cold humid climate of the snowy peaks of the Iarann ridge. Currently, the capital city of Battania is baile átha Cliath which houses 6.6% of the population. The Ostairan capital city of Vín is the largest city by population, with 11% of the population calling the city their home. Other urban cities include Chorcaí, Luimnigh, Dhoire, na Gaillimhe, Baile Nua na Mainistreach, and Beannchar. The Foraois was a collection of small Kingdoms in the 800s, and would see itself conquered numerous times till the last oppressors were pushed out in 1154. Countless High Kings would try to push for a more urbanized population, but the country still remained largely underdeveloped and a largely archaic nation which can still be seen in many regions of the small country. Eventually, the nation would fall into its 2nd Civil War (1649 - 1653), in which, the Regency of Battania was formed and was victorious till the Confederation of Clans of the Foraois was created. The nation underwent 'Tógáil' (Keltic: 'Build'), which would see the nation develop even more, causing massive social changes. The nation would enter years of stability, which would eventually end in 1805 by an economic crash, and a power struggle between the High King and the Chiefs would occur. What followed was a radicalization of the High Kings methods of ruling, and the Great Leap Forward. Eventually, the regime would reform, and enter a short-lived golden age, which despite the name, massive issues were still faced in the nation. Eventually the economy would crash once more, and the nation would encounter its 3rd civil war from 1997 - 2014. The Confederation of Clans of the Foraois would improve in its reforms, which would see the nation improving from itself from before. It eventually came to an end, leaving the people to hold a referendum which led to the establishment of the Ríocht of the Foraois. On the 5 September 2031, a military-coup lead by special forces Lieutenant-Colonel Muireach Ó Bradáin who established the Phoblacht Saor Battanic and ending the Eastern Insurgency. After only a month of communist rule, Battania would collapse into yet again another civil war, ending in a victory for the nationalist military faction, the An Chomhairle um Leas agus Rathúnas na Batania (Keltic: Council for the Welfare and Prosperity of Battania) and a new era for Battanic history. Foraois is derived from the Keltic word for Forest. This name was chosen due to the vast forest woodlands that covered most of the Kingdom and still do to this day. Another word which is used to name the Kingdom is the word "Battania", as this what the majority of people referred to the land as the ethnicity living there are Battanic. It was only by the 1660s, which Foraois was used far more. The name Battania can also be claimed to have similarities to the region of Bavatia which the Kingdoms borders lay in today. The standard way to refer to a Battanic person in Valish is "Battanian." Despite which, there is another way to refer to a Battanic person in the tongue of the Albanach people. Battanique (Alba Gaelic: Battanc) is one way to refer to someone as ethnically Battanic. The History of Battania spans from the early bronze age, it is generally considered that the formation of Battania in 866 as the start of its more relevant history. The Kingdoms of Battania were formed in 886 when High King Fìonan Kermitm fen Gruffendoc the Deliverer of Freedom would lead the Battanic people into a new era of prosperity and security through the developing of new forms of agriculture and research. Battania would continue to become more and more developed throughout the century. Despite which, the nation had its short comings. Due to poor harvests in 1065, however, and both High Kings Neachdainn Whelani fen Morcar the Confessor (r. 1042 - 1066) and Earnan Ó Conchobhair fen Uvian (r. 1066 - 1066) failures to handle the rapidly declining situation, a former Deutsch mercenary by the name of Uilliam Normainn would lead a successful rebellion and took the title of King as King Uilliam I the Conqueror of the House of Normainn (r. 1066 - 1087). During the first few days of the United Chiefdoms, the nation would undergo a period of decreasing stability. During this period, peasant rebellions, and revolts would be an occurrence, most of which would be brutally suppressed. The first 50 years of the United Chiefdoms rebellions were a reoccurring event along with poor harvests. What followed was the Blianta an Bháis (Keltic: Years of Death), where the nation would plunge into numerous famines and internal conflicts. The famines that happened during the Blianta an Bháis (Keltic: Years of Death) would single-handedly be responsible for the deaths of 1/3 of the population during this time, with the most notably famine being the Geimhreadh gan chruithneacht (Keltic: Wheatless Winter) where 75,239 people died due to the result of the Wheat being destroyed in landslides, raids, or just failing at harvest. Eventually a rebellion led by King Uilliam I the Conqueror of the House of Normainn (r. 1066 - 1087) would overthrow High King Earnan Ó Conchobhair fen Uvian (r. 1066 - 1066) in 1066 and his family would rule till his great-grandson King Stiabhna of the House of Aoibhneas (r. 1135 - 1154) would be overthrown in another rebellion in 1154, recreating the United Chiefdoms of the Foraois. When the Chiefdoms were placed back in control over the Foraois in 1154 with High King Teàrlach Fylani fen Gruffendoc (r. 1154 - 1189), the Foraois experienced many years of High Kings going back and forth between policies and reforms, making the people either suffer economic crashes one year, and prosperity another. This pattern would repeat itself over the 495 years period the United Chiefdoms would last, being marked with famine, economic crashes and booms, rebellions, and more internal conflicts with the last one resulting in the end of the United Chiefdoms after the execution of High King Sèitheach Donoghuei the Just (r. 1625 - 1649) and the establishment of the Regency of Battania in 1653. After years of instability and famine, the Blianta an Bháis (Keltic: Years of Death) would come to an end with the Rebellion of Uilliam and the creation of the Kingdom of Battania in 1066. King Uilliam I the Conqueror of the House of Normainn led a successful rebellion against High King Earnan Ó Conchobhair fen Uvian (r. 1066 - 1066) which ultimately led to the overthrow of the Chiefs. King Uilliam I the Conqueror of the House of Normainn pushed forward many economic and social policies that are present today, along with expanding the borders of the Kingdom before passing away and handing the crown to his son, King Uilliam II of the House of Normainn. King Uilliam II of the House of Normainn and his successors would follow along with most of the policies, implementing many of their own to increase their own power and cause the Chiefdoms powers to dwindle. This would only lead to a rebellion led by the Chiefs, overthrowing King Stiabhna of the House of Aoibhneas in 1154 and the reestablishment of the United Chiefdoms of the Foraois however, this government too would be overthrown in a rebellion by Lords Protector Guirmean Mcnaughtoni of the House of A ’Chòrn in 1649. The High Kings of the United Chiefdoms of the Foraois who ruled from 1154 had their reigns tainted with economic crashes, famines, and even more internal conflicts between the Clans vying for power. Eventually, a low-ranking Chief named Guirmean Mcnaughtoni would lead a rebellion with the support of the rivals of assassinated High King Sèitheach Donoghuei the Just fen Giall (r. 1625 - 1649) in 1649. What followed was a 4-year civil war between what were known as the Traidisiúntaithe (Keltic: Traditionalist) of High King Sèitheach Donoghuei the Just fen Giall (r. 1625 - 1649) and the Comhrialtas (Keltic: Coalition Government) of Chief Guirmean Mcnaughtoni of the House of A ’Chòrn (r. 1653 - 1658). Its High Kings would be amongst the more popular according to the citizens thanks to the lack of Clans Wars that were used to establish the next High King and to push forward their policies. In 1660, High King Moireach Ó Seanáini fen Morcr (r. 1660 - 1685) would begin a period known as 'Tógáil' (Keltic: 'Build'), which he planned to rebuild much of the infrastructure of the nation since the 2nd civil war along with reforms which would consolidate his power. High King Conall Mcgeei fen Giall the Desired (r. 1760 - 1820) crazed regime eventually came to an end when the Chiefs held a trail of High King Conall Mcgeei fen Giall the Desired (r. 1760 - 1820), deeming him insane and dethroning him in a coup, and placing Chief Gillechrìosd Mcarthurs fen Penraic the Eaglet (r. 1820 - 1830) as High King who in fact was High King Conall Mcgeei fen Giall the Desired (r. 1760 - 1820) cousin. High King Gillechrìosd Mcarthurs fen Penraic the Eaglet (r. 1820 - 1830) regime led to a change in traditional polices, earning him the reputation of being a radical. For 8 years, High King Gillechrìosd Mcarthurs fen Penraic the Eaglet (r. 1820 - 1830) would consolidate his power by eliminating his opponents and implementing policies granting him more power over the other Chiefs. In an incident in 1830, His Highnesses own secret police force would brutally murder him and return power back to the Chiefs who elected Ailpein Donoghuei fen Eingall the Citizen King (r. 1830 - 1837) to become the next High King, who undid most of High King Gillechrìosd Mcarthurs fen Penraic the Eaglet (r. 1820 - 1830) policies till he passed away in 1837. High Queen Siofra Ó Conchobhairi fen Morcar the Dreaded (r. 1837 - 1901), the wife of High King Ailpein Donoghuei fen Eingall the Citizen King (r. 1830 - 1837) who amassed a great deal of controversy due to her having an affair with a low-ranking Chief, she was elected as High Queen. With most of her opponents eliminated, Her Highness would lead the nation to a new era: An Léim Mhór Ar Aghaidh (Keltic: The Great Leap Forward). High King Melidir fen Morcar the Reformer (r. 2031 - 2031) would abdicate as he promised for his son, King Eadan XVII who further stabilized the nation and continued its economic growth, until political unrest and an insurgency led to a coup d’état by communist forces and the end of Battanic monarchism. The Free Battanic Republic first came into being as the communist guerrilla force known as the Tosaigh le haghaidh an Cearta de Feirmeoirí agus Mianadóirí (Keltic: Front for the Rights of Farmers and Miners or TCFM). The TCFM was formed by members of the lower class after the Reclamation Act of 2031, allowing the government to take the land which they recently annexed, forcing the people who already lived on the land to move elsewhere. Since some of the mines which produced majority of the nation’s GDP were shut down after the land was returned to its former owners, the State has expanded its many still operating mines, with Lindorn mine becoming the largest underground iron mine in all of Valsora. The Lindorn mine has an ore body which is 4 km (2.5 mi) long, 80 metres (260 ft) to 120 metres (390 ft) thick and reaching a depth of up to 2 km (1.2 mi) and has produced 26.9 million tonnes of iron in its operational history in only 6 months. However, with the increasing of isolation taking its toll on Battania, a bomb went off in General Secretary Sèitheach Ó Haodhai’s residence, killing him and other top ranking officials and plunging Battania into its 4th Civil War, lasting from 12th December 2031 - 15th February 2032, with the An Chomhairle um Leanúint le Slándáil agus Feidhm Stáit (Council for the Continuation of State Security and Function or ACLSFS) of Generals Eòran Magees and Dubh Ó Briain emerging victorious and establishing the Provisional Government of Battania. The Provisional Government of Battania came into being after the victory of the An Chomhairle um Leanúint le Slándáil agus Feidhm Stáit (Council for the Continuation of State Security and Function or ACLSFS) led by a coalition of military leaders headed by General Eòran Magees and General Dubh Ó Briain that ended the 4th Battanic Civil War, toppling the Communists Government once and for all. Upon seizing power, they renamed themselves to the Comhairle Riaracháin an Stáit (Keltic: State Administrative Council) to better legitimise themselves as the sole rulers of Battania. Since then, Battania now operates as a diarchy which is monitored by a military junta. Wishing to re-establish itself on the world stage of Valsora, the Provisional Government signed Battania up for the military alliance known as SETO which includes Valsoran superpowers The Heiliger Eisenrepublik of Kampf Empire and Shavara. Due to the military origins of the government, the military budget increased to record new levels including new fighter jets, vehicles, and for the first time in all of its history, a full time navy was established, the Fórsa Muirí Battanic (Keltic: Battanic Maritime Force). Even with all these achievements, the Provisional Government experienced a brief conflict with Lahnhof that did cause some minor setbacks for the Battanic people. The Southern Lowlands The modern-day land mass of Battania contains many natural resources, especially Iron, Coal, Uranium, and Rhenium.
