I still seem to be struggling with where to put Hannah-Vine if I apply. I've done some reading on suggested nations and I'm not sure I'm confident there yet. I've looked at suggested white space, but it feels crowded and I'm not sure. I was tempted toward Solitas but I've gotten several hints not to, including one player telling me in private that they plan to "loot" some of the whitespace there soon. I'm tempted to go to some of the more open area on Unistan, Orientalis, or Yastreovakia, but I suspect people would argue I'm not painting my nation to match the ethnic themes enough. I'm also tempted to just define some areas and decide by dice, but I worry that that would be rude in some way. I can probably do this, but I've spent long enough being nervous and unsure that at this point I want to vent with this message. Sorry for being indecisive or annoying or inconvenient or such

My assumption is to go American/White/West because it's what I'm used to and I don't know what I'd do right or wrong to play as different race/ethnicity/whatever. I'm open to changing it, I'm just nervous I'd do poorly or not care enough. I'm still more invested in finding some way for my nation to focus on the minority rights and leftism I care about IRL.

My favorite solution to the Fermi Paradox is that Earth is actually just a Deathworld by alien standards.
