Voleskia

Artarum wrote:The Artarumen Empire is pleased to greet Voleskia into the community of nations, and eagerly accepts its request to establish an embassy in Liudan, Artarum's capital city. In reciprocation, the Artarumen Empire will be granting Mr Reginald Thorns the title of Ambassador to Voleskia.

The Artarumen Empire also wishes to extend an invitation to the international institutions of the International Assembly, the International Monetary Fund, and the International Bank for Development, and in doing so, will sponsor Voleskia to the other member nations in a vote, should Voleskia accept.

Once more, the Artarumen Empire is pleased and honoured to greet Voleskia and her people to the world stage.

"Only one nation responded? Do they all think we don't exist? Too controversial -- I haven't heard of us being controversial to any other, no one prints papers about this place."

"General Secretary, I'm as perplexed as you. Some of the countries even import our goods. But this one, this Artarum Empire, is very promising. I doubt any of them have ever even heard of us, but they immediately offered us to join all of these organizations. The International Assembly, Bank of Development, and most promising Monetary Fund. Our future lies with this Artarum."

"What are those organizations?"

"I don't know."

"You don't know? You're the Minister of International Affairs..."

"Well, yes -- we don't have much information on Artaram translated into Volek, or enough bilinguals to shift through information at the moment. They didn't provide us with details."

"Then meet with their ambassador and get more information, we'll assemble the committee when you have all the facts to present."

---

Voleskia would get a lease on a suitable building in Liudan and begin sending over embassy staff by ship. While they were being sent, Minister of International Affairs Soka Obers requested to meet Reginald Thorns at the new Artaram embassy building to discuss some of the organizations Voleskia was offered to join and of relations between the nations.

The Empire of Westbeech

As the last transport left the drop zone, dust could be seen from the dirt road not too far. Kristin had ordered the special forces into different positions to ambush and break the enemy's flanks. Because of the large bushes and trees alongside the road, the infantry were able to find good positioning to hide. The armor being as large as they were, however, forced them to remain behind the ambush point and to move in when fighting began as a way to force the northern forces back.

The Northern forces were just moving along the road in a column. With no proper scouting information, they continued to advance straight along the road, straight into the ambush. As the end of the column approached the special forces, the sound of a fast-firing energy weapon went off. Like a chain reaction, more and more blasters went off. In response, Northern soldiers quickly charged into the bushes and off the road, often ending up in a melee with a special forces soldier. The Northern armor also turned out and went into more open areas where infantry quickly joined them.

With the enemy disorganized and attempting to regroup into smaller combat groups, the southern armor was beginning to move on either flank. Heavier infantry equipment was quickly being set up in covered locations overlooking some of the open areas. As the "Impenetrable" turrets were prepared Kristin herself approached one and aimed at one of the Leopard 2's in a field. "Ma'am, I don't know if that will work. If anything, I think it will only just anger them."

"The only way to fully understand what we have been given is to use it in every way possible." Kristin began firing and at first, it seemed like nothing was happening. The Leopard's turret began turning to face the turret position, but after a couple seconds suddenly stopped. A top hatch opened and the crew started climbing out, the men with their hands up as they got out. As Kristin stopped firing, a hole could be seen in the tank, the outside of the hole glowing orange and melting. The hole went all the way through, and on the other side, northern soldiers that had been in cover were simply looking on in awe. "And like that, we have shown that our latest weaponry can be effective in multiple situations.

The battle was over quickly, the morale of the northern troops completely drained after being surprised by weapons they could not even imagine existed and overwhelmed by a smaller force. The southern armor had not even arrived in time to support the special forces in the fighting and the crews just got to witness the aftermath. Since the northern troops had not signaled for reinforcements or that there was an engagement, the southern special forces were able to call for aircraft to transport prisoners and get fresh supplies. With the nearby town garrison also emptied, the Kristin Lorette began drafting up plans to start discreetly liberating towns.

Spiritual Republic of Caryton

"...And so that's how Aliza Dhezenkin ended up in Greater Swabia."

"That's how?"

A youthful twenty-three year old Lady Louise had to cover her mouth to conceal the condescending grin on her face as Lothar Buchwald - now her recently appointed bodyguard - told her the story recounted to him from the words of Lady Steinbruch during his tenure at the Daedalus Facility, at that time merely one of her interns that happened to curry her favour. All kinds of juicy gossip had filtered through the halls of the Stapo in those days, as the technology available to the Holy Reisch during the reign of Otto made acquiring blackmail a particularly simple process, provided one had enough time and patience. Aliza's fate wasn't leverage however, nor even a well-kept secret by Swabian standards, but nonetheless a spiteful little pleasure on His Majesty's part; she had been his long-time rival despite his relation to the Rumonsk Dynasty and had been the likeliest reason for his disinheritance of the seat of power in Novyy Londinium, perhaps the largest thorn in his side that he had prior to ascending to power in the West. It was a wonderment to many then that the Kaiser - well-known for being bold and hot-headed as the Grandmaster of the Order of Arhat - had not decided to spiteful glass the remains of the Rumonsk-Nalklov legacy but instead let the obsolete Tsardom live on in ever-diminishing irrelevance, almost like a final slap in the face to his old rival: 'You are not worth my attention. I have already won.' Neither Louise nor anybody else could work out whether he really had turned a new leaf or this sudden policy shift was some elaborate power play, a means to keep the world off-guard for some eventual renaissance of Germanian world domination. Not even his closest aides knew for sure.

But whatever it actually was that Reinhardt von Witzland had in store for the Reisch, Louise Wilhelm's place was over in Caryton, her arrival heralded by the incessant chuffing of a locomotive across the backdrop of a tranquil Transleithanian idyll, completely untouched by the anti-Chunwall crusades that had ravaged Rosenhügel and the surrounding parts of the urbanized area. At least one Joycamp had to have been located somewhere within those myriad of train tracks that forked off into all kinds of unknown forestry and mountains, but it appeared that only train carriages full of natural resources rather than people seemed to make their way through this part of the empire, and even the most seasoned of explorers weren't taking their chances with the railway patrol. Not this far out in the woods, with nowhere to scurry back to and nobody to report a missing persons case to. It all made for a decidedly eerie sight passing them by as the totally anomalous luxury train car shambled along, on a uniform heading towards Caryton. Lothar had taken careful note of the fact that Lady Louise looked on flying with unwavering distrust, having insisted to himself and Aldo on other means of reaching the Ecclesiastical Meritocracy.

The smile on her face that had been conjured from the tale of Dhezenkin slowly faded as she turned her gaze back to Buchwald, wearing a more serious look and the tone to go with it.

"Would you kindly excuse me? I need to use the phone to call my man."

Her clear blue eyes seemed to shine with clear intent, complimenting her distinctive auburn hair that she wore in a neat bun for this occasion, a curl of hair hanging down past her ruddy cheek. The man wasn't fooled however -- only the lace and ribbons of that black and dark mulberry toned dress could conceal an otherwise clearly visible predator that devoured whoever was crazy enough to leave their head in her jaws. David Bethel really had no idea what he was getting himself into... but it was either him or Lukas Mandl, and Lothar wasn't taking chances so soon on the job. Reaching his hand into his breast pocket, he fished out a simple flip-phone, the kind that a drug dealer would use, or a man who knew his way around surveillance both domestic and foreign. The Duke of Ansbach had chosen his man for the job well.

"Took down David's number before we left, feel free. I'm sure he'll be eager to hear from you personally after all this time."

He intoned mildly as he offered the phone across to her, to which she took with a veiled look of apprehension on her face which was replaced with faux-gratitude. Brushing a hand around her magnificent dress, she carefully filed herself out of the booth where they'd been sitting and ambling out towards her private quarters. She'd read a lot about Caryton on the internet, but that was the extent of her knowledge about where she was going, and her opinion on the country was about the same as most others ignorant to the nuances of the country: that everybody there worshipped a dog as some deity and was, at best, a bit kooky. At worst, batshit insane. God, did she hope that David didn't fall into the second category... By the Crown, how was she going to ever adjust? A hand cupped around the phone once she dialled the number and nervously bit her lip, heart pounding inside her chest as she anxious attempted to snatch some kind of clarity in advance of her arrival.

Stealing a glance at the clock on the wall, she checked the time... they had to be at least three hours ahead, right? So it was 10am? Maybe or-? Wait, they were three hours behind... It was 4pm then in Caryton, surely... Did this number reach his house phone or the one at the office? In which case, where would he be at this time?

Don't overthink this, Louise.

The Empire of Westbeech

Kristin Lorette had returned to the South quickly after the special forces equipment field test. "It all works! Nothing they had could stop us. Even the new machine gun emplacement could eventually go straight through the armor of a Leopard 2. These weapons shall prove extremely effective in combat against the North and once we are able to fully equip the special forces, we can start equipping the regular soldiers. With that equipment, we'd be able to outdo any opponent nearby."

Lilie nodded. "The usage of these weapons is indeed the future, and hopefully can bring us away from killing our own citizens. If we are to fight anywhere, it will be to better Westbeech and her allies. We will also have to make sure that we have units that don't use this equipment. We must publicly look like most other nations, using the weapons we are about to replace. To our citizens, however, they shall witness the full strength of both Westbeechian science and military. Once this war is over, I plan to bring us to the next age, but not on this planet, rather elsewhere a great distance away. Only there will we be able to keep cordial relations with the world and those we know. It will be our priority to get elsewhere to further the development of Westbeech and maintain the stability of our world."

The commanding staff, who had all been fully invested in the mention of spreading elsewhere, collectively smiled and cheered. Maximus put his hand up and said, "We mustn't celebrate yet. For now, we must push to put Westbeech in a position to begin my sister's ambition. She puts her full trust in you and her soldiers to put us in that position. Once we end this war, you will all be responsible for reorganizing, as we will soon have a full reformation of the greater part of our military."

The staff nodded and sat back down, preparing to go over the latest movements of Northern units to prepare for more combat.

OOC: Yeah! I'd recommend RPing some of the innerworkings of your nation so people get to see and understand different parts of your nation and you'd get people interested in contacting you about RPing. Perhaps do something to introduce the cultures of your nation, the government, anything particular that makes it unique, etc.. I really do recommend doing this, because I didn't do it and, surprise surprise, the only RPs I got in were disorganized and with people I already knew.

The Equestrianic Imperium of Twilight Sparkle

Sanctuary Point wrote:The cathedral shook and masonry fell but still the ponies inside minus Pearlescent, Shield and Black continued to chant though the words shifted now. “Sanctorum Immateri, Solari Invictus, Luna Bellum…” The priest shared a look with one of the other robed ponies on stage with him, handing over a key and sending his aide to disappear behind the alter.

Outside the Everfree soldiers along with the surviving Elysians formed a cordon around the Tatzlewurm and the building it was forcing itself to ram into. Sharpshooters fired at the wounds left behind by the anti-tank missiles that the gunships had launched previously, agitating the semi-cauterised holes in the creature’s sides. Slamming into the side of the cathedral again, the monster succeeded in making a hole into where Pearlescent and the parishioners were, a few having been crushed by the rubble from the ceiling though it must have surely regretted this as the hole let the radiance it had felt before as a oppressive miasma become a beam that struck it full force, searing flesh down to the bone as it screeched.

Blinded by the searing light and bleeding profusely from its now fatal wounds, the Tatzlwurm made one final attempt to enter the cathedral, which felt like trying to enter an oven. It forced the hole it had made in the roof larger. With its one remaining eye it could see three Ponies standing nearby, two Unicorns and one large Earth Pony. Somehow it knew that the Unicorn mare standing in the middle was its target. The presence at the back of its mind knew, and the certainty seeped into the tortured mind of the dying Wurm. With one final roar full of rage and agony, it pushed its head inside the cathedral, maw open and ready to swallow the mare and her companions alive.

Pearlescent had only ever seen Tatzlwurms from afar during the Imperatrix's military parades when the Beastmaster Division had made their myriad mind controlled monsters stomp, stride, slither, fly and hover past the Imperial Palace in order to make an impression on the spectators. Now one of those monsters was only a couple of dozen feet above her, staring at her with its single remaining eye.

And yet she didn't feel like she was in danger. She didn't even feel the need to back away from the Tatzlwurm.

Without fully realizing it, she had begun to walk towards the monster.

"Little Miss, no!" Shield Wall shouted in horror and tried to tackle her, but somehow she slipped past him like she had never been there in the first place.

Pearlescent placed a hoof on the burned, cracking shell covering the Wurm's head. It made no attempt to grab her.

"It's alright," she whispered, her voice somehow audible despite the chanting of the other Ponies in the cathedral. "You did well, but now it's time to let go. They can't hurt you anymore. It's time to let go."

The Tatzlwurm let out a long, relieved sound that reverberated in the cathedral. Its head, now little more than a mass of burned flesh, went limp as did its entire body. The pain from its wounds and the searing light faded away as the monster's enslaved spirit left its ruined body and was finally free.

It was dead.

Gasping for breath, Ruby Pinch fell on the floor. Her head was pounding and her horn felt like it was on fire. The horrible, burning light still flashed in her eyes every time she closed them.

Dying was painful.

"You disappoint me, Ruby," a deep mellow voice said above her. It was dark, but she could make out the silhouete of a tall, elegantly built Unicorn stallion. "You had a single task and you were too weak to accomplish it."

"Gaahh... please, Duke Silver..." she managed to groan. "It was simply too much. Those Ponies... they used some kind of faith-based magic that disrupted my connection with the Wurm... Nopony could have done better! Nopony! But I saw her! I saw your daughter. She was among them and she..."

"I know what she did, Ruby," Duke Silver said calmly. "I know what they all did. They think they have won, but they have just given me an idea."

Ruby managed to get back on her hooves. She still felt weak and her head was spinning, but at least she could stand again.

She asked, "You mean we're going to try again?"

The Duke laughed.

"No, Ruby. I mean I will try again. You, however, have become a liability. There is now a chance they might use your connection with the Wurm to track you... and me, by extension. I'm afraid you'll have to go."

Ruby felt her heart sink to her hooves.

"P-please, Duke Silver!" she pleaded. "There's no way they could do that! The connection was thoroughly broken and there's no way anypony could..."

"I can't take any chances, Ruby. I'm sorry." He didn't sound like he was sorry at all.

He stepped fully into the light. Ruby saw his face. She saw his mouth. She saw his eyes.

She screamed.

Sanctuary Point wrote:“Strike Fighters, we intend to replenish our cruisers’ stores of attack craft. We lost a great deal during our exodus.” Alula grimaced as she recalled their fleet being dogged by heretics and xenos alike, most of their military escorts sacrificing themselves to ensure their escape. “You’ll forgive me if I don’t add that to the tour.” She added as their group started moving again, descending from the catwalks and entering the hospital wing of the Schola.

The Sisters Hospitaller greeted the generals and their guards warmly though Rainbow’s side were a bit put off by the nurses wearing full suits of power armour. “Mater, Sabre’s knee is quite shattered. I would ask that you reprimanded Sgt. Staff but I think we both know how he’d respond.” The head sister tapped away at a miniature cogitator before passing it off to one of her subordinates. “You’d be right, Legatine Waters. The stallion would take it as a challenge and fill your wards with broken bones and dislocated limbs.” Alula allowed herself a small chuckle, the first bit of levity the Equestrians had seen out of their host.

Rainbow still had many questions about the Avenger Factory, but Alula's demeanor made it clear she wouldn't get any useful answers out of her. Rainbow's old self would have have persisted in trying to get more information from her counterpart, but over the years she had learned when to drop an issue. She followed Alula to the hospital wing.

Watching the exchange between Alula and Legatine Waters, Rainbow made an observation.

"Wait," she said. "Maybe I'm mistaken, but most of these medical devices look purely technological in nature. Most of our doctors are Unicorns and also healers. We use mainly magic, backed up by some technology, to heal our wounded. It seems you have chosen the opposite, at least in New Elysium."
