And then another leader in British politics was gone.

The First Minister (FM) in Scotland resigned, in not a particularly shocking announcement. The ending of the Green coalition government as some weird power play was incredibly ill-thought-out. Last week, his Green partners called to vote via their own party membership, a vote on how or what the Green Party would do. In truth, the likely outcome was a continued coalition, or if not, an end to the political career of Patrick Harvie and his Co-leader Lorna Slater for failing to deliver on certain policy goals - Green agenda and so-called identity politics. Instead, haste and a pretense to power of the FM was his own downfall. Nae luck. His election was necessary and would never have lasted anyway. However, I felt he would have carried his term, lost a vote share, and allowed another grassroots candidate in, hungry, different, charming, and able to build a narrative for their vision. Sadly, the FM had beaten my own estimations, as party insiders sized him up to me said, would end in a train wreck.

Anyway, we now have the choice of the capable and yet outrageously boring John Sweeney, or the equally as arrogant Kate Forbes, like her predecessor, lacks actual real personality to be a leader in a diverse civil discourse. Anyway, I digress....

The end of the coalition, bar the personality of arrogance, was on a knife edge of two main policy interventions:

The scrapping of Green targets.
The scrapping of puberty blockers as per a recent review and report.

Is Green politics almost impossible to achieve, even with a green presence in Government due to the sheer volume and complexity of the task? And, is identity politics creating the culture wars which will continue to be fought on social media, really infiltrated actual civil society? Both combined arguably have been enough to conclude the current Scottish Government, and arguably, the identity politics ended the previous also (minus the personality element here, of course, and erm.. well the scandal of party finances...).
