The Confederate Kingdoms of Reiserland

Someone claimed on Twitter that anti-theism is "a product of and gateway to white supremacy" and I had to double take. It's honestly one of the most braindead political take I've ever read on Twitter.

The KKK, notable for being... irreligious, apparently.

The Theocracy of Potatopelago

The Vicures Islands wrote:I vote through a system of factors, which usually bring an entry up high on my votes, or add up to a good rating.

There are a few things that I tend to lean towards when voting, 1 being the most important to me, and 8 being the least, but still having some effect on my choices:

1. Intrigue
Does it make me go "oh wow I wonder what this song's about" or "damn that's deep"? Is it something more than generic poppy love songs? Then it probably tickles my intrigue factor.

2. Representation of National Language
English, even if that might even be the national language of the country, is unfortunately the lingua franca, which means any other entry that *isn't* in English gets a boost on my vote.

3. Resemblance to reality
Sometimes the entries just remind me of very good real life songs or artists, and it's a bit hard to not compare the two and vote by resemblance. This doesn't mean "real song = high rating", as I'd have voted some way higher if that was the case, but no, it must resemble, not be an exact copy.

4. Aesthetic
Does the artist name look fitting? It looks a bit off-putting to see "The Scrungle Lads" writing a song called "The Death Hymn of War" or something like that. Too short, too simple, too long, a mouthful? That docks a few points from my book. Some contestants managed to pull off simplicity in a very good way and were very well rewarded in my votes.

5. Theming
To make it simple: Potatopelago's entry, Mashed or Fries by the Gravy Guys is a PERFECTLY themed song; Nation-Title-Artist. It all fits the potato theme. It even rhymes. You can't get better than that. Nardin also had lovely woodland theming.

6. Humor
Refer to Potatopelago again. It's hilarious.

7. Energy
Usually, this comes off as how energetic the song comes off to me. This usually gets boosted by exclamation marks (!) and fun stuff overall, take for example, Liliandra Blackberry's entry for last year, with the absolute banger Raise your Tankards (Dilli Dilli Dilli Da), which just feels like a bop.

8. The Cool Factor
Does it just... sound or look cool? Yeah. It gets a point...

There's also the factor of bias where I gave Helisweerde hella points for being my G in DSAFF and also to Agausia for being a fellow factbookmaxxer but let's not talk about this

Glad you liked my entry :)

The Principality of Helisweerde

Alrighty, lemme go through each point to see what my entry already ticks off and how it does so

1. Natasha's song is a rock ballad about the breakup of her first marriage, something that was given tabloid-levels of coverage in Helisweerder media back then which nearly made her flee into retirement. The song particularly zooms in on an instance where she and her partner at the time got in a fight so bad that her partner hit her over the head with a beer bottle (hence the glass on the floor).

2. Yes, our song is in English, but there are also a few lines in Dutch as well

3. Natasha's entry was inspired by Anouk's 'Nobody's Wife' and to a lesser extent Lorčdana Bertč's 'Pazza'

4. I hope the name 'Natasha Denekamp' is simple enough, whilst also fitting with the song title

5. I am honestly not able to see if our entry adheres to any aesthetic, sorry

6. There is no humour in breakups, domestic abuse and tabloidism

7. Yes, this entry is somewhat energetic, as the rock aspect of the song gives it a kick to what would otherwise have been a pretty depressing ballad (in fact, the choice was to either make a sad ballad or a more balanced one with a message of hope nearing the end, and the entry took the later form)

8. Idk how to measure that

Rest assured, I have given you a high points amount too. It would've been 12 points, but Regy ran Cassandra for the 4th year in a row, and how could I ever say no to giving Cassandra 12 points for a 4th year in a row!?

there were 11 nations who I wanted to give points to; I'll reveal the one I didn't after the finals are over
almost everyone I voted for I wanted to give 12 to, all the way down to the one I actually gave 3 to.
my choice for 12 is a bit unorthodox, though

so at 2020 i started my friendgroup arc of sorts. i made a massive friendgroup of like 30 people i loved close as family, some i was in relationships with. yes im polygamous. anyway, late 2023 they dropped me, one i had previously considered a brother encouraged my own suicide. after months of drifting from community to community i made one close friend and opened up to oen person. an hour ago that same person brought all that suffering back on me, and that friend left. im reliving grief basically.

Sounds absolutely awful. As someone who is poly myself, the pain is understandable, even if ive never been in that exact position. Hope you'll feel better soon and meet some ppl who will be real friends/partners.

The Armed States of Skalliad

I partially wrote a factbook that revealed some probably interesting facts (mostly economic) about the first 15 years since the founding of the state. But for the first time I was so dissatisfied with it that even rewriting it didn't help, and it was decided to just delete it and forget about it. And that's a pity. But whatever, you don't have to do something you don't like when it's a hobby or a game, i.e. something optional

I really struggled voting myself in the final, there are so many excellent entries and there are some I wish I could have voted for who didn’t end up getting a single point from me… :(
