Should profitable and capitalistic economies attempt to be green, or is it better for the economy to raze all the forests?

In other business we were discussing the construction of embassies. We still have the the request on the table from Sabia. There is now a second request from the region of Cypress.

I cannot see a down side to collecting embassies. It saves us the trouble of sending arms dealers... Err, I meant sales missions to their nations. It doesn't cost us anything (unless some nations are naive enough to not tax the embassies). Any other thoughts?

We want to congratulate, if that is the right word, Nation of ontario and The new vietnamiese order for coming in as the most extreme in the region.

I think that when it comes to forestation, green is not the right word. Common sense considerations like reforestation after harvest, selective harvest and land rotation make far more sense then some fantasy built around bad science and poor politics.

Any thoughts on the Labor department's idea that reporters and media personnel be forced to use government owned computers while working in the building?

I can't see that we should want to construct embassies with regions with a miniscule number of nations between them: we shouldn't become embassy-hoggers. It degrades our brand.

As for deforestation, I think a government that assures both private property rights to avoid tragedy of the commons, and assiduously enforces accurate taxes on neighbourhood costs (e.g. SO2, CO2, CO, NO2 emissions, heat pollution, etc.) is doing all it needs to for the environment. What a shame so few governments manage to do those things properly!

A just government treats all of its citizens equally under the law. Thus, the legal institution of marriage should be open to all consenting adults or government should be entirely uninvolved.

On "Gay Marriage" - my view of it (from a legal standpoint) is the same as my view of "Straight Marriage".

A ceremony on private property is fine - as long as no violation of the nonaggression principle occurs.

I also have no, legal, problem with friends of two (or more) men calling them "man and wife".

The problem occurs when people insist on legal "recognision" and the whole "anti discrination" scam.

Private indivduals and associations (companies, churches, whatever...) being FORCED to "recognise" a "Gay Marriage" under the threat of "anti discrimination" action by lawyers (no surprise that trial lawyers overwhelming support the idea).

"But the government marries Straight people so why should it not marry Gay people?"

I do not believe in government "Straight Marriages" either.

I do not believe government should be involved in this stuff at all.
